I just logged in tonight and read posts for an hour or so. Man do I miss the banter of this place and corresponding with all of you lincoln guys. I think the other thing that has gotten crazier since I faded away is the matte lincolns. WOW. Prices are thru the friggin' roof.
As most of you know, I got out of the lincoln slab game a little over a year ago and have just been having fun with some Danscos. My beautiful children have really consumed what's left in my life after work...but I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. I'd love to hear from some of you all out there...Lincolns Rule, Watersport, Registry Nut, dcgolfer...to name a few. Since I no longer have a PCGS membership, I cannot view the Registry Sets (I need to go back and try it again to be sure that I can't) so I'm kinda bummed about that...but I am going to be sure to drop in here more often to say hello and see what's going on.
I've got to imagine that the economy is forcing some people out there to liquidate or unload some of their registry sets? Would I be correct in saying that it's getting to be a lot like the housing market right now? A great time to buy but an awful time to sell???
Here is a recent pic of my kiddos Emily Anne (3.5) and Connor Bradley (10 months). Please chime in guys and let me all know how your doin' (or send me a PM!)...see you around guys...

I guess you have missed the comings and goings of a few new members, buying and selling of sets/coins and now the unknown of the economy on collecting. Especially since its 2009, and not a darn thing to show for it in regards to Lincoln's other than they are most likely facing a downward trend as the value guide just went RED in most other series this week. You could not have timed it better getting out when you did.
I thought anyone could look at sets, but what do I know? The increasing in Mattes was all year long. You should have been here for the ride. But it did price MANY out of the market. I for one bought mine two years ago, and could buy what I own today. The other news was PCGS FINALLY deciding to do a Variety set in all circ and proof Lincoln's. That created a home for the satins. It also made the variety stuff in a ANACS holder you could buy for $25 now run $425! Its just nuts.

OMG! You're kids are absolutely adorable. Connor is going to look like you, I think.
I didn't know you coudn't view the Registry sets without a membership. I'd check that again. I still have the Registry fever, so I'll keep plugging away, until I wake up one morning and decide I've had enough. Memorials are still my favorite, wheaties are on the back burner, and mattes may be years away. Coin funds are tight, upgrades are expensive, but I'm in long term, with my best financial years ahead of me. In the future, I'll PM you. Don't want to upset anyone. All is well in Phoenix, Az. and do visit a little more often. Always nice to hear from you.

Those are great looking kids and come back when you can stay longer.
Hope things are well for you. Kid's are looking happy and healthy!
do you own any guns?
you'll need one when that little girl gets to be 17

Nice pair of keepers there, brother.
Good to see you here Toby.
What a lovely family.

Nice to hear from you.
Ditto on what the others said, Great looking kids.
Enjoy now, they grow up fast! Not to say they're not enjoyable as they get older, it's just their time is split a bazillion ways......
How's the Dansco(s) going?
Beautiful children you have there. Like others said
enjoy them now when their young as they can be
a real pain at times when their older. They'll
definitely keep you busy with all their extra
curricular activities. Hope your having fun with
finding decent coins for your raw album sets.
Best wishes for you and your family for the new year.
Mike.
Someday REAL American HERO's will be on our COINS.

Andy Skrabalak playing a part in the 1943-D bronze cent...THAT WAS A VERY COOL STORY TO READ! You probably won't read this thread Andy...but congrats anyway.
I just spent about an hour looking at some lincoln registry sets and seeing where everyone "is" in the game now...so cool to revisit this place. I do not regret selling my collection when I did...but I do miss having some of those gems in my possession. My collection didn't hold a candle to most of the lincoln collections out there but damn did it mean a lot to me. The money that I raised from the sale of that set allowed my wife and I to improve our previous home tremendously and allowed us to get top dollar when we sold it in Dec. of 2009. I was able to move my family about 7 miles west of Annapolis into a much more "rural" area and we now have a much larger home on a nice piece of land! Emily and Connor are 5 and 2.5 years old if y'all can believe that! We are truly blessed with such wonderful children.
My collecting days are limited to picking up the annual proof and uncirc issues from the mint (for kids albums) cracking them out and putting them in airtite albums with the kids. They get excited when we do it every year and they are now beginning to understand what coins are all about. I of course maintain my raw MS lincoln cent collection in a nice album but haven't added one since I sold my registry set collection. Gotta get back to that and finish filling my indian cent album as well.
This past weekend I finally got around to making a photo book of the entire TBL Collection that I sold a few years back (all of my high res TrueView images) by using MyPublisher (go to mypublisher.com and check it out). If any of you have not used MyPublisher to make family photo albums, etc...you should definitely check it out. Incredible quality books (much nicer than Shutterfly, Kodak, etc.). Anyway, it will be nice to have a 40+ page book filled with my old lincoln cent collection.
I will say this. One day I will be back to build a lincoln collection and it will be a blast. For now, I can just open my book and remember how much fun owning the collection was.
I'll be checking this thread over the next few days...I'd love to hear from you all...(or PM me...I'll check that too if it still works here)
Nice to see you pop in every year or so Glad everything is going well for you and you have the kids helping you out with the Dansco.
