Matte Proof Lincoln's for the week of 1-28

Back to 45 MPL's this week. Long Beach is 7 days away so I will make the next list a day or two after that auction. I did check both Ira Goldberg and Bowers and Merena and they do not have any MPL's at auction so far. We are seeing a few coins being offered here on the forum but not on the list as negotiations are underway for many of them. Personally I think everyone is holding thier breath to see how MPL's do at the Baltimore show.
Especially now that the price guide has turned red in most other series. I am sure Lincoln's will be next.

Just came in at JJ TeaParty

1913 RD. Hard to find with blazing red surfaces like this piece and free of the carbon spots normally seen. Terrific, bold strike. Gorgeous and very high quality. Housed in an old NGC holder. PR 64 NGC $2595.00

That 1913 at TeleTrade has a few too many carbon spots for a 65 IMO. My Pr64RB 1910 should be a 66 by that standard.

Agreed, but as you know with these pictures, you can't tell how much luster is on the coin. Luster can bump up the grade a point.

I could not agree with you more RB. As I worked with those pictures I felt not only were these some high end 64 R&B coins, The overall set was impressive. Nice Set Moezppa!

That's a nice list and much appreciated. Without sounding greedy, perhaps you can show it with just the new coins listed (i.e.-if a coin appears one week, it doesn't get double counted the next week and thereafter if still on the list). I think that would give a more accurate picture as to if fresh stuff is appearing. Just a thought. Thanks again.

Steve, Lusterlover: I did not respond to Steves earlier request to go back and document the MPL's up for the past year for that reason, often the coin is ether up for sale for months - or could be sold mulitple times during the same year. You could do this if 1) every coin showed the serial number and 2) every coin was photographed. - But that is a MAJOR under taking with the same not-real-data results because many coins are not photographed or show thier serial number. So what you have is just a bunch of coins with no real info on how many are truely coming to market.

On a differant note, the 1913 65 R&B sold at Teletrade, went very cheap. Maybe the bidders felt it only deserved 64 money? A quick look at the high end Mattes at the Long Beach Auction show a few strong bids.

1912 PCGS PR64BN. Was NGC 65BN. I think it is still a 65. Super luster and no carbon. $1750

1915 PCGS PR63BN. Very fine woodgraining. Small carbon spot near LIBERTY accounts for the grade. Probably the toughest date to find. $1750
