1975 Topps Rack packs..Grades and Pics..Update

As some of you know I was able to get a rack case of 1975 Topps Baseball Cards. I opened 2 boxes of Rack packs and pulled some amazing cards.
With the help of a dear friend who has the best eye I have ever seen in looking at cards to get graded, we have sent in 2 submissions to PSA of 100 or more cards so far. We have well over 700 more to submit that are lock 8's and higher.
I have built an amazing raw set, with all of the key cards graded either psa 8 or 9. After all of the grades are in I will sell this raw/graded set. I the raw cards I selected in the set are just drop dead stunning.
I have also begun a fully graded all PSA 9 and 10 set ( have not published the set yet).
The doubles I have that are not in either set are on ebay, to help recoup some of my cost.
I recieved 11 psa 10's in the 2 subs, 3 of them are doubles, (Milt May, Greg Gross, and Bill Robinson)
In total, 11 PSA 10's
158 PSA 9's
23 PSA 8.5's
31 PSA 8's

Here are some pics of the 10's:

Congrats on those awesome grades. Not to take away from any of the 10's, but the Bill Russell 10 seems slightly generous..at least it does in the scan. With my luck if it were my Russell car it would have come back a 8.5 or a 9. Either way that Russell is smoking hot along with the others.

    Congrats!!
  • I mean this in the nicest possible way, you make me sick. I distinctly remember passing out for a sceond or two when you originally posted the pics of the packs and the boxes. What did you do with the packs that had HOF'ers on top?

    Very nice thanks for sharing!

Good luck with the rest of them.

Are you going to build a registry set?

or are you going to ebay them?

Sorry in advance if you already mentioned it.

    Steve
    Good for you.
  • I've sent in 130 75's this year... I've got one 9(OC) and nearly all the rest 8s. Not one clear nine much less a 10... amazing submission... perhaps I could recruit your eye on my next as I"m now totally gun shy about submitting anything.

    Great sub.

one to find in 8 or better.

    Steve
    Good for you.
  • Steve,

Yes I got Tanana in an 8, also the toughest 9 in the set 2 psa 9's in #481 Will Mcenaney
Yes I am building a set for the registry, I have not hit the commit button yet as I am waiting until all the cards I am submitting are graded.

And Stingray, I did get A Larry Haney!!!

Amazing! ...those are some sweet cards for sure.

Let me know if you find any "unworthy" cards to submit (EX-Mt or so)... we only need 9 cards to complete our raw set.

    thank you,

    Mike

    Excellent grades. image
Were there any Robin Younts' that you thought had a chance at a 10? Last I looked there still hasn't been a 10, so the first one should be a very high dollar card.

looking at the pops it appears to me that Tommy Davis is the hardest card in that set to get in 8 and above.

Morlen card 651 has the least amount of 9's with 7.

back when I was more into the set a few others that were hard IMO were:

    Ettchebaren
    Hermann
    Rick Miller
    larry Christenson
    Dave Guist.

Not sure if the above are still tuff as the pops have changed over the years.

I would think though a card would be considered low pop in this set if it had less then 11-12 examples graded 9 or above.

I built the set baqck in 1975 using 3 or 4 vending boxes. I was still short by 10 cards and finished it in the 80's

    Good for you.

Steve, that Morlan card was a pop 4 only about a year ago.
I was building this set in PSA 9 and PSA 10, but sold it off a year ago. I knew I was being foolish, buying pop 1 PSA 10's for around $300-$400. Lucky when I sold they were still pop 1's and believe it or not I made the most money on those cards.
I realized it would be best to wait several years and if I still wanted to do a high grade set, prices should be a lot lower as pops climb.
