Help! What is this?

I have several of these and I'm not sure what they are. Obviously it was struck in 1972 to commemorate the bicentennial of the American Revolution but I don't think it's a mint product. I'm not even sure of the metal it's struck from. There is a P mintmark on the obverse and it has a medal turn. Any help?

I have one of these, picked it up for a $1 about 10 years ago. I had information on it, but I don't know where it is right now.

Part of a series of Bicentennial celebration medals struck at the Mint in Brass. Some issues were also struck in Sterling Silver. Many of these were combined with Postal First Day Covers and promoted as Postal Commemoratives. Worth less than a dollar.

I think they're a Franklin Mint product, or something similar. Not US Mint as far as I know.

I agree. The Franklin Mint doesn't use the P mint mark, and I don't think it would be legal in the first place.

They were made by the US Mint in prodigious numbers and sold for the American Revolution Bicentennial Commission. They can also typically be found in coin shops for around $1 each.

The medal is a Genuine Mint Product to commemorate the Bicentennial and was struck on Brass, the medals struck in proof have the P - Philadelphia Mint Mark, the uncirculated version does not have the P mint mark. The uncirculated were enclosed in a first day envelope, the Proof like you have pictured was in a hinged plastic case. Worth a few dollars, nothing more.
