First order was free for having 75%. I've had the voucher for almost a year but had a hard time finding raw cards worthy of sending in. The Williams I bought at the Vets show in Columbus raw and thought it was a 5 with outside shot at 6. It has great eye appeal. #81 I cracked out the 6 in my registry set and got the bump. The high numbers are raw cards I have had but wanted nicer. I decided to send them in and get this set finished and move on to another. They graded what I expected. While #2 & 81 are The Good, #205 Freese is The Ugly. I cracked the PSA 5 from my registry as it sure looked nice to me and I could not find the wrinkle or whatever else kept it from grading higher, figureing it could come back no worse than the 5 it was. I may send it in again, if it is rejected again I figure the first Grader missed it. If it grades I guess the second Grader missed it.
The second order I took advantage of the special. I had about 50 raw 57s and divided them into two stacks. The first were what I thought were PSA 6 or 7 quality, these are the ones I submitted. The other stack was what I thought were Psa 4 or 5 which I did not submit except for Schoendienst because he was a favorite of mine years ago. I was right on the money with these except for a couple stains I missed. The 58s & 59s were about what I expected except for Herrera, I must have missed something. The 58 B. Robinson is not mine, I submitted it for an employee of mine who has a few cards. The 59 Football are raw cards I bought at the Vets show. I bought several more and when looking them over at home noticed many had been trimmed. Some so noticeably I was upset with myself for not noticing when I made my purchase. I thought the ones I submitted were PSA 8 quality but I was still happy with the grades.
The 60s were a severe disappointment. I looked over my already graded cards several times and cracked the best low pop commons I had. # 6, 19, and 116 were PSA 7s in my registry and they all were downgraded. I would be the first to say I am pretty accurate when looking at mid grade but not so good at PSA 8 - 10 but I do have over 400 1960 Topps in PSA 8 as a reference and felt these were easy 8s. # 391, 496, and 501 came back with no change. The other 60s I bought raw at Vets and I was hoping for 8s but it is what it is. The McCovey has a wrinkle so I was expecting PSA 4 or 5, that card being trimmed was a suprise. Why trim a mid grade card?
All in all most cards were what I expected, but the ones most important to me were the most disappointing. I may crack & re-submit again as I have another free voucher for renewing my membership and have nothing else worth sending in.
