Has the Doug Winter site been down over the past few days?
Since Friday I have been trying to get into the Doug Winter website, www.raregoldcoins.com. The site does not seem to load and I just get blank white space, and the little meter at the bottom of the screen says, "Done". I figure there are a few explanations:
(1) The Man has found out I surf the site and deems its content to be inappropriate
(2) Mrs. Longacre has found out that I surf the site, and deems its content is an inappropriate burden on funds that could be used at Tiffany.com
(3) Mr. Winter for some reason does not want Longacre viewing the site.
(4) There is some other explanation.
Is anyone having trouble, or is it really just me?

Upon selecting the "view source" feature on the browser, I see what looks like a valid website. Shouldn't be blank.
I turn on my Macintosh. Safari can view this site just fine.
But Internet Explorer 7...at least my version of it...does not appear to be able to do anything other than show a blank page.
Blame Microsoft.
Use a different browser such as Firefox.

Man, what do you have there, some sort of command center?
Download a different browser? Do you know how long I will be on the phone with the help desk in Bangalore to do that?

<< <i>I use FireFox and have had no difficulty viewing the DW site. There are some tasty southern branch mint quarter eagles offered at fire sale prices. I think I will buy them all, while Longacre is trying to figure out was FireFox is.
I feel a frenzy of immense proportions coming on right now. I'm getting Bangalore on the phone right now.

Looks like option 4 to me. I had problems accessing the site on Sunday. On the fourth attempt I got through to the Market Blog. Now on Monday afternoon I am getting the blank screen. I use Internet Explorer as well.

This is a source of great distress for me. Surely fc can post a work-around for us who use MS Explorer.

Bless you, fc. That seems to work, but the inventory page that loads is from 1/20/09. RYK has probably ordered all of the quarter eagles by now.

Actually, I emailed him. He already knew about it and his seven person IT staff was working 'round the clock to fix it.

It's nice to see that Mr. Winter is not threatening his employees with human capital redundancy procedures.
