State of the Coin Market - Love your commentary

What is happening with the market???

Tried to sell 3 coins on E-Bay. Listed them around Greysheet bid, 2 PCGS, 1 NGC graded coins. Used BIN and Best Offer....Not one offer within 35% of bid or no offers.

Had about 15 coins on TT Protected about 6-7 of them at prices 25% below the lowest sale. Half of those didn't sell, the others sold one increment above my protected bid.
Of those not protected, they brought 40-60% less then the lowest bid on record.

Of course every coin on TT that I wanted to buy went for or were protected at moon money.

All decent slabbed PCGS or NGC coins.

Is it just me, or is the market that weak???

...in case you haven't heard, we are in the midst of a global recession. The money supply is shrinking, most Americans have been hit with 50% losses on the 401K and a lot are unemployed. Obama, the wicked schoolmaster, has came in and WILL TAKE CARE OF IT but it will take time.

Why are you even trying to sell now? Just sit tight, wrap them up and lock them away. The average recession has lasted 11 months while the recovery/bull period lasts for six years.

Unless you need money to buy more Chef Boyardee Pizza mixes....keep your coins, and let the supply diminish. The demand will increase eventually and all will be well again.

I'm surprised to see you having problems selling coins, when there's a lot of pundits predicting the price of gold and silver to skyrocket, a push towards "tangible assets," blah blah "hedge against inflation" blah, and so forth. I've been watching my retirement portfolio of mutual funds whither; my best-performing investment in 2008 is my 1908 no motto Saint Gaudens, a PCGS MS65. If you're having trouble selling good coins today, it could be a blessing in disguise if the predictions run true and inflation doubles their price when they do sell.

Then again, forcasting the market is, well, forgive the almost unavoidable idiom, a coin toss.

What type of coins were these? Semi-modern like Frankies, Mercs or post 1964, or classic?
