1808 O-110a die state question...

Hi folks-

I just picked up this 1808 O-110a but it appears to have a later die state than what I have seen as the typical O-110a (which is just a die crack through star 7). This piece has what looks to be a major die break through star 7. Do any of you know how common this later die state is? Thanks!

Lane, I'm speculating that wear is the prime factor towards all this, yet even with this, this example does seem to exhibit a slightly later die state than any of the two on CoinZip

Look at the second coin for a comparison example (both in grade and die state)

BTW - This is one of the neater die states for 1808.

Hi Winston-

I know what you mean by wear, but it is fairly evident on the coin that the there is a major die break over star 7. It appears that below the die break the coin's surface appears to be "sunk" suggesting that there was die failure involved with die break.
