Going to the flea market...A few nice pickups w/ scans

About to head to the local weekend flea market. I have made some really nice pickups in the past form one large card booth that I have posted on here in the past. I just haven't been in a long time. This thread will either be a little exciting for some or completely boring if I find nothing.

I wish we still had flea markets around here. I used to love going to them as a kid and picking up cards.

Lucky...that's what I miss about living in Georgia...all the great flea markets and even better example across the stateline in Alabama. Good luck.

  • Not quite as exciting as past visits but I think I did OK. Only spent $40 so I don't think I did too bad. The only cards not shown are 2007 A&G Perez sketch cards of Ryan Howard and Jim Edmonds that were in the $0.50 bin.

The 83 Topps Ripken appears to be at least a 9 with a shot at a 10. It was in the $2 box and will be added to my Jan special that is shipping out Monday. The Rickey is OC but couldn't pass it up for $8.

A couple of Ryan's. Only bought the 78 because it was cheap and I just sold a similar conditioned one on eBay for $20 and some change. The 84 Donruss Ryan is also going to PSA Monday.

A couple of shiny stars in the $1 box

More shiny stuff. I have noe idea who Erik Meyer is but for a $1 rookie auto I figured what the heck. The Arod was going to be subbed too for my player registry set but he decided to jump off the desk before being scanned. He got injured and will be out for 2-4 weeks.

The bottom two cards are for forum users. Maybe you can figure out who the fourm users are. The Bowmans Best Paul Oneill is getting subbed before his future owner receives him. It has to be a 10 unless I just don't know how to judge the centering on this one.

DAM!! Sweet pickups... usually flea markets only have the overproduced junk!!
Cal and the Nolans are nice

This guy usually has a lot of vintage baseball and football but he said he hasn't been three the last few weekends. So, most of his good stuff wasn't with him. He had one big binder with vintage cards but nothing in good enough condition to justify the price.

I wouldn't have passed up Rickey for $8 either. Very nice pickup.

He had a 9-card page in a binder of 80's stuff with all Rickeys. He told me to pick one for $8. I chose the one with sharpest corners even though there were a few that were dead centered on the front

Great job today Bill and thanks for sharing. I especially like that Cal card....that's one of the cards that seem to elude me. Good luck on your subs.
