Need help identifying this 1674 German State 6 Kreuzer

Staircoins

The coin is silver, 25mm, with the gentle curve that you often find on coins produced from roller dies. (And much nicer than my crummy low-contrast scan indicates.)

At first I thought it might be Wurttemberg, but I can't find it listed in Krause, either the 17th Century or the German Coin edition. Who can enlighten me?

Close, it's Württemberg Öls (Oels). I'll have to whip out the book for further ID.

This is why I hate the 17th century Krause... the only thing they have listed are talers, double talers and gold.

Thankfully CoinArchives has a few examples up.

That's a really nice piece BTW. I really like the patina

Ah, that's the problem. then. My Krause only shows Thalers for Württemberg Öls, no minors.

Edit: Thanks - you should see it in hand - it actually has terrific luster underneath!

I know what you mean. I collect the small stuff. First time I bought a 1600s Krause I sold it a week later... it didn't list any of the dozen coins sitting in front of me! Broke down and got another copy though
