Was watching the History Chanel Thursday morning before going for a doctor's appointment. They were showing the secrets of Fort Knox. They said this was the only time the press had been allowed in the depository. Actual pictures of the gold. One room they showed had 23,000 gold bars ar 40 pounds each. Do the math. I know this has been on before and I saw part of it that time too. Maybe one of these days I can see the entire program.

Don't forget, the ONLY time cameras that were allowed inside, that was in 1974. Nothing since. It was funny that Truman and Roosevelt, who were the only two presidents to actually visit the depository, had to sign an executive order allowing themselves in. Talk about security!

However, 'Treasure Quest' looks to be a fascinating show (considering tonites episode was the second show.....thank goodness for DVR cable boxes or TiVo). No good French want a share of everything. (no offense to those members who ARE French...anyone who has seen the show will understand).

Sort of been there, done that. The state made me the guardian of a ward. There arose a Medicaid question. I contacted the state. they refused to talk to me until I produced a court order showing guardianship. After submitting that, they then refused to talk to me until I signed a form giving them permission to talk to me. Then they gave me the most ignorant useless false information imaginable. They told me we had no coverage. This was at a time that all bills were being paid up to the limit allowed by Medicaid.

I have not any detail on dollar bill secrets in this thread. But I can think of a long standing error on the front and another on the back.
Anybody care to guess what they are?

Wow, the first time I ever even got a response to one of my riddles.

I best answer as requested before this thread goes poof for being OT.

The reverse shows the Great Seal of the US. Conventional illustrations always show the obverse first. This shows the reverse first. This was
requested by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. As a child, I was really confused when I saw a picture of the great seal in the dictionary. I wondered why the dictionary got it backwards. Shows how much I knew.

The obverse states "This note is legal tender for all debts, public and private." This wording has been used for many years and matched the law in the U.S. Code. However many years ago a Federal court ruled that government dues are not debts. A few years ago the law was changed to reflect this. But the notes never changed. It could read "This note is legal tender for all debts and dues, public and private" which is similiar in wording to the 1922 and 1928 Gold Certficates.

I saw this. It was okay, but with too much
unnecessary drama.

The History Channel is still good sometimes, but
it seems that they have begun showing more
shows on UFO's, Sasquatch, and the Bermuda
Triangle, than on history.

It's a shame, but I guess it's all about ratings,
and that kind of crap draws in more of the TV
watching masses.
