Im not fond of the surface on the UNC buffalo fractional, what exactly is the surface treatment on the UHR? Normal circulation gold surface or satin? Or glitzy Franklin Mint glossy gold?

Based on pics I've seen, it appears to be a satin finish.

Technically, it would qualify as a satin proof since the original satin proofs of 1909-1910 were made the same way, except with only one blow from a medal press.

The surface will not match the originals due to changes in technology. I think they really wanted to duplicate the old, original surfaces, but that would have forced use of old technology that no one is now comfortable with.

Since we are starting dream rumors I heard that the planchet provider just went on strike and there will not be any more blanks made this year for the UHR after the initial 4000. How is that?

Don't worry, I've heard there is a shop in interior China that is all set up to digitally remaster the UHR and start pumping out replicas once they get theirs by Executive privilege shipment from the US Mint Monday morning.

Which raises another interesting question, will the Mint be offering defaced dies to the public as they have for the State Quarters?

Don't be stupid. The Mint uses very high quality glue to attach that bird! image
