Since they nuked the original thread (CAC also in the title), I will reply again. It will probably get nuked too.

I submitted a nice NGC/CAC coin for crossover. It failed. I sold it as the NGC/CAC it was. The buyer submitted it. It passed crossover. It is not an exact science. It is not a game. It is somewhere in between the two.

He may tell you what he thinks of the competency of PCGS's graders.image

I don't believe he sees that as the role of CAC.

However, as long as CAC fees are relatively low and PCGS fees are high, one can't assume that CAC is a consolation prize for a failed NGC to PCGS crossover when found on an NGC slab. I have a number of NGCs I sent to CAC, just to see how they worked, and never sent to PCGS myself. If you have an enormous collection that would cost tens of thousands in fees to crossover, with expectedly variable results, running a nice fraction through CAC might be a more attractive alternative prior to disposition.

Don't remember the code off hand or even if it had one.

Nobody ever guaranteed that CAC standards were in line with PCGS standards...
