I do not have time, at the moment, to image a Gourde of the 1880s, but I trust that someone will, somewhere down the thread.
In my opinion, a candidate for one of the most striking coins (pun unintended) ever struck.

  • I was surprized to see such attractive coinage!

One like this one, (from farthing's post), would be a fitting candidate for something you might present to your daughter in order to celebrate the adoption.

Boz, loved the photography on the 1975 25 Gourdes, tough coin to image for me and your example is near flawless..

Laurent, that coin is cool! And notice what a breathtaking difference in minting quality there was in just 4 short years?! BTW, I think that coin is begging for a nice long olive oil bath and conservation! But it looks cool as is.

A stately and noble personification of Haitian Liberty. In my opinion, one of the most beautiful coins ever minted.

Hey, isn't that first gal "Honey Ryder" from the James Bond movie Dr. No??? She does NOT look Haitian! Then again, Papa Doc was a big Euro-phile, wasn't he?

    Oh, and CONGRATULATIONS!
