Krause Value Request: 1888A 20Fr Gold Angel?

Thank you in advance. Have an opportunity and trying to decide if I want to jump into a new collection area.
Went to Barnes & Noble yesterday to look it up, but somebody must have bought the book.

    ebay item # Ebay Link

    Can't access ebay from work, but can see on esnipe I won it. Been looking at the French angels for a while.
    Research continues, as I realize it's not just a set of 20Fr s, but also other gold and silver from 1791-1793.
    Bought a old 18th century Krause to do the research, but was relying on Barnes and Nobles for the 19th Century.
    Figure I buy the book, do the research, sell the book. Worked before on other stuff.

    But, the 20 Frs look do-able, with this being the lowest mintage of 22 dates. Seems like a good place to start.
    Couldn't find any prices realized anywhere. That may be a good sign.

    I've always like their design of the gold French angels, but still haven't added one to my collection yet. image

  • Anything much over $200 is going to be a little steep for any of the Angels, except for the 1848-A and 1849-A. They basically sell for bullion plus 10% regardless of mintage. And that includes coins graded up to MS66.

    From my perspective I would say todays prices for most mintage years are:

    MS61-64 = $200-$250
    MS65 = $275-$325
