A funny story, I guess

Ok, for the last week I've been slowly posting cards that I found in my wife's card collection she had, that I didn't know about until long after we were married.

As I mentioned in the other thread, she had many packs of NFL cards that were still in the factory wax packs but she had already opened them. She said she was out of holders and pages so they got put away. Well being out of work the last few months I've been very stressed out and didn't even notice I now had a Marino rookie card until Bill of LSU fame mentioned it today. Holy crap, I guess the mind is a terrible thing to waste.

  • If those cards were all in one pack I would love to have opened that one. Four Cowboys and a Marino rookie with 66% of the pack being HOF'ers, what more could you ask for other than an Elway rookie too?

No way they were Bill. My wife had close to a dozen packs. A few cards were lose in a box, but the ones in the scan were the best from close to a dozen packs.

I couldn't get that lucky. Going back to childhood, I never got a Henderson, Gwynn, Ripken, Dorsett, or anything like the Marino I just stumbled across. I've bought some nice rookies before, but never out of a pack.

How does the 1984 Walter Payton look close up? It looks pretty good from the scan. PSA 9s of that card seem to draw some nice money.

It has a couple of slight touches on the corners but it is a great looking card and I will keep it with my raw cards

Ronnie Lott, you can see his foot in the Redskins team card.

Actually the RB is John Riggins.
Collecting PSA graded Steve Young, Marcus Allen, Bret Saberhagen and 1980s Topps Cards.
Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.

Again, I just wanted to clarify since I'm seeing another reply that the cards posted were only the better pulls from all of the cards my wife still had in her opened wax packs. I originally posted "many packs" but it was close to a dozen packs as I mentioned in an earlier post.
