I need to sell some cards. Help me decide what to sell first.

I just bought a big card the other day and now am going to sell some stuff to pay for it. Please give me your thoughts on what order I should sell the following cards in both groups (i.e., which would you sell first and which would you sell last or hold onto).

Group 1:

61 Mantle AS PSA 7 (very nice PSA 7)
60 Yaz RC PSA 7
62 Jim Marshall PSA 8 (I have a nice 7)
64 Julian Javier PSA 8 (I have 2)
64 Yaz, PSA 9 (I have 2)
57 Hal Naragon PSA 8 (I have a nice 7.5)

Group 2:

56 Dale Long PSA 8 (I have a nice raw one that is at least a 7)
59 Ellis Burton PSA 8 (same as Long above, have a nice raw one)
61 Paul Hornung PSA 8
59 Mike Cuellar PSA 8 (pretty weak 8)

Thanks,

Ron

List them all with strong BIN/BO on Ebay or here and let sell what sells.

If you must auction, I'd send any cards considered "low pop" packing.

Good luck either way and you should show off the purchase. image

I would advise everyone to sell your Donovan McNabb RCs.

'57 Mantle/Berra, PSA 8. Nicest 8 I have ever seen. One of my favorite cards.

That's a beauty, I would love to pair it up with the Dodger's Sluggers card.

I'd sell the 61 Mantle AS (simply because I'm not fond of AS cards), then the 61 Yaz (PM me a scan, I might be interested). Keep the 64 Yaz if you can. In group 2 I'd keep the Hornung for last.

Ron I would sell the 64 Yaz PSA 9 first. Just dump it and if you like it get an 8. I love getting 9s so I can dump for money and get more 8s.

If you have 2 64 Javiers then that would be next.
The 1961 Yaz is an ok card but it's not his RC so it won't bring that much in a 7 so dump it.
Only cards I might consider holding onto from group 1 would be the 62 Marshall and 61 Mantle AS. I would sell them last.

In group 2 I would sell them all as your talking about 3 commons (low pop or not) and 1 star from an easy to find set.

That is a great card. One of my favorite also. Do you have a scan I would love to see it?

Yikes, just realized a typo. It's a 60 Yaz, not a 61. And also, I have two '64 Yaz's in PSA 9. I'd been keeping it in reserve to sell/trade for another '64 star in PSA 9 but might need to part with it here.

My favorite trades and sells have been dumping PSA 9s of star players who I don't really collect for PSA 8s of players I do collect. I guess I see it as would I rather have another PSA 9 HOFer from 1964 or the 57 Berra/Mantle. To me I would take the Berra/Mantle over any 64 HOFer except maybe Mantle and that's a big maybe.

Yeah, if you have 2 Yaz 9's then one has to go.

Do you mind if I ask how much the Mantle/Berra cost?

In this phase of the pricing-cycle, it might be prudent
to consider selling the ones that now have the highest
    prices.

    .....

Personally, I would take any Mantle's out of the mix. I
suspect their prices will be OK, longterm.

  • I would keep the Mantle AS, the Hornung and the Jim Marshall 8. Sell the Marshall 7 and everything else.

Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.

    Ron,
Did you win that nice 8 on ebay a few days ago??? If so it is probably the best centered copy I have seen since I started the set.

If that's the one then my question is answered, and that card should be a 9 easy.
