Let The Madness Begin ...

To me, the Super Bowl has been and always will be nothing more than a football game to determine the champion of professional football here in the United States. Unfortunately, to the better part of the rest of the world, the Super Bowl is ANYTHING BUT THAT. It's about hype, story lines, commercials, half-time shows, celebrities, pre-game shows, post-game shows, etc., etc. Need evidence? A typical football game lasts about 3 hours or so. On the Sunday the Super Bowl is played, NBC has reserved at least TEN AND A HALF (10.5) hours of Super Bowl related programming. Amazing.

  • The Super Bowl is definitely a hype machine, but I do think the 10.5 hrs. coverage is alright. What I mean by this is try to watch all the religion and infomercials NBC has lined up on a normal Sunday. On all the three networks, Sunday day TV has and likely always will be junk TV....no offense meant to anyone that happens to a church member to one of the churches that buys its Sunday time or to Ronco.
