That's good advice. I took it to a jeweler, He says it's genuine. He also told me he could order me one for $290.00. Sound like a coin dealer?

I was embaressed to ask him to let me take it to a jeweler, and he did give me the look I didn't want; You don't trust me. We aren't "close friends/buddies but I think I would have felt the same way. I've known him for several yrs. and I know him to be honest. He just got laid off and I reckon he's just paying bills.

I'm getting paranoid in my old age. . Me thinks I should have just trusted him. Bad Karma. Take care, jws

Better to be safe, you did right. Even if you were great friends, if you can't test it yourself, what happens when a year from now you want to sell it, and find out its fake?

You helped out someone, don't feel bad for making sure you weren't throwing the money away.
