Request for cleaning advice - 1907(P) US-PI 50 Ctvs

I bought this item (for AU money), even though it was advertised as "Choice BU Flashy". (Actually, the seller had the description in all caps) I have not received it yet, but if the seller's pic was badly taken and there truely is luster there, then I made out like a bandit. My question though, is looking at the picture, there appears to be a whole lot of crud that I believe will come off with acetone. But if it doesn't, can anyone suggest another tactic that won't damage the coin. I just want the crud off, particularly the crud on and near the lady's head, but I have no problems with toning. In fact, I actually prefer toning over being "blast white". However, I would be curious as to others' opinions regarding what the blue areas near the rim on the reverse are. Could that be natural toning?

Acetone would take care of it, but the toning may come as well.

try rinsing with acetone and then with multiple rinses of sterile water. Acetone won't touch any toning.

If an acetone or olive oil soak do not take all the CRUD off, try "Shout" laundry product on it.

Agree on the acetone. I don't bother with anything other than tapwater and mild dishwater soap after and tamped (not rubbed) dry with clean white cotton cloth. I think he meant "distilled" water, not "sterile" water. That is good if you have it but IMO not necessary.

I take it that you are joking. Are you saying that I should "Shout" it out?

I think I would try that Shout on some other coins first - just what is the active ingredient?
