Getting an entire large set graded

I'm mulling it over, for a few of my '57 through '69 Topps baseball sets. And as I mull, these options keep rearing their heads:
1.) Should I submit what I think are the WORST 50 cards, thereby knowing my floor
2.) Should I submit my BEST 50 and thereby find out if the project is even worth doing
3.) Should I submit the 50 LOWEST POPS and see what difficulties may or may not lie ahead
4.) Should I get the TOP TWENTY cards of the set (ie, Mantle, Aaron, Mays, etc) graded and keep my fingers crossed
5.) Should I just call Joe and make a deal for all 500+ cards, submit them and take a valium
Or maybe just take two valiums tonight and forget the whole idea.
Anyone have any experience at this? Or, a suggestion or two?
Thanks!
Nick

If you are wanting to sell them, I would just send in the star cards and low pops.
If you are planning on competing in the set registries, submit the ones you feel would pull the grades you are willing to accept for a registry base. i.e. none lower than NM 7.
After trying to come up with a few ideas for you .... I've come to the conclusion that I need a couple valiums now!
Thanks a lot!
Seriously, 1st I'd try to prioritize my sets to decide which ones I liked the best and then I'd concentrate on the HOFers and stars in those sets to see which ones would yield the highest grades.
If you have a particular set that completely stands out from all the others, gradewise, I'd pick that set.
Trying to get a better price by contacting Joe wouldn't hurt. The worst he can say is no, but for 500-600 cards, I'd almost bet that he'd oblige you.
Good luck no matter which ones you decide.
Now .... where are my valiums????

I fail to see how this will help you with anything, but it certainly is a great idea and I think you should move forward with it.
