NGC Type 2 CAM Franklin value help please...

I am considering purchasing a 1956 type 2 NGC PF 67 cam franklin from my local shop. It's a bit pricey ($200) and I was wondering
just what the added value of a type 2 variety is or should be.
I understand what type 2 is, but I'm not sure just how rare or collectible it is. How many type 2's are out there compared to type 1?
Anybody have the price guide for a 56 type 2 PF67 handy?
Also, do you see these appreciating in value over the long run?

I wouldn't count on appreciation, I'd check out the teletrade archives to see recent pricing.

In the last Heritage auction, earlier this month, there were two NGC PF67s sold. Both were cameo and sold for $86.25 and $126.50. In November an NGC PF69 Cameo sold for $230. The Type 1 are much rarer. In the NGC population report Type 2 PF67's out numbers Type 1 476-189, in cameo the difference is 247-41 and in UCAM the difference is 55-1.

Last years sales on teletrade are in the $65-$75 range which is what they were selling at 10 years ago.

1956 Proof Franklin Halves include two main die varieties: Type 1 and Type 2.

The most easily discernible difference occurs on the small eagle located on the reverse to the right of the bell. The wing feathers of this eagle differ between the Type 1 and Type 2 coins, and Type 1 halves are more expensive (especially in high grade with cameo or deep cameo contrast.)

In fact, 1956 Proof halves with cameo contrast are considered common in terms of the 1950s Franklins. The price for your coin, being of the more easily obtainable and common variety, is higher than I have ever purchased one for. I would suggest Teletrade (many are often offered in NGC or PCGS 66Cameo or better) or another dealer for a comparable coin at a better price.

I'll admit to the $86.25 purchase... but don't look to me for value 'cause I just bought it because I thought it looked nice. I really don't know anything about Franklins. Still not in hand yet but looking forward to getting it. Here's the HA pics:

The type 2 is much more common than the type 1. The coin you mentioned is probably worth around $50-75, if it has no problems.

This is exactly the information I was needing to hear. I'm not sure why I assumed type 2 was the rarer of the proofs.
I guess it was the price difference at my shop.
