Question -- PSA/DNA Flips

Forgive me if this sounds stupid, but I searched and couldn't find an answer.

What is the difference between the blue and red flip for PSA/DNA? I know the red flips are when the card is graded, but what bearing do they have on using the PSA/DNA Registry? I tried to enter my blue flips and kept getting an error message. I'm hoping that I don't need red flips to use the Registry.

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Red Flips required to use the registry. They used to allow a mix, but a few months ago did away with Blue Flips on the registry.

Blue= PSA/DNA Submission. No Card grade but you can choose to have the quality of the Auto graded.

Red= PSA/DNA through Collectors club with Grade or Authentic on the card.

what j said, plues red flip[p autos are subbed by PAYING MEMBERS, like all the blue flip autos you see on ebay , they are from a non psa member subber fiendimage
,but non members can sub autos and screw up my 52 set just fine i guessimageimage
i didnt know that till i asked them on the phone what the diff was, i was like you- why red and blue? so i got the scoop
  • Red Flip = PSA is opining that the card and autograph are authentic - If there is a grade then the card is graded, not the autograph. (cards with manufacturer issued autographs are not required to go though autograph authentication service and PSA makes no comment about the autograph)
These are used in the PSA Set Registry

Blue Flip = PSA/DNA is only commenting about the autograph, the card is treated as any signed piece of paper. If there is a grade on this label it refers to the condition of the autograph and has no bearing on the condition of the card. The card is not reviewed by any card graders; again the card is considered a signed piece of paper.

These can be used in the PSA/DNA Set Registry.

You do not need to be a member to use the PSA Autographed Card Grading & Authentication service level. If you are not a member you will need to contact customer service to request forms since you will be unable to print them from our site.

I do not work in the set registry department so what I have written above is general information. I am pretty sure that blue flips can not go in to the PSA Set Registry any longer. I am unclear if the red flips can be entered in to the PSA/DNA Set Registry.

I would really suggest contacting the Set Registry department for more information at setregistry@collectors.com. By going through them you will be sure to get the correct answer the first time.

I can confirm that the blue flips will not go into the set registry.

I had to send my few blue flipped Goudey autos in for red flips in order to use them in my set.

I have to do that myself. For my HOF Basketball registry I had a few Blue Flips which got blown away with the change over. Should have sent them in on the December special but I had other cards I wanted to spend money on authenticating first.
  • If they have the blue flip you only need to send them in for grading. You can have the flip show a grade or just have them say authentic. YOu do not have to have the auto's looked at again.

So could you send them in as part of the $5 current special?
