what sets do you hate?

are there any sets out there that you just cant stand..sets you think should never have been made?

all i ask is that you dont single people out who like a set and insult them..
there really is no set out there i can think of that i hate..but i am sure others my think otherwise.

Being an avid basketball card collector, I can't stand the 1977, 1978, 1979 basketball sets.

I disagree on 77 - it's a decent undervalued set. 79 Basketball is the worst. I don't like 79 baseball either. You would think I have a soft spot for them as they're from my birth year. I never really liked 61 baseball either. Not sure why, I just feel like it's the weakest of 52-67.

yes, the 78 shows their mug shots. IMO, these three set designs were too similar, with the 78 being best.

As a kid I hated the 76 baseball cards. Every pack seemed to have two or three of those stupid cards with a mock newspaper headline saying the player had been traded or something.
But of all the packs I opened I never got one George Brett second year card. Not that I'm bitter or anything. image

True, the 77 is undervalued, but I really like the early and mid 70s and early 80s basketball sets. In comparison to those sets, I feel the 77-79 are lacking the creativity shown in the other sets.

I've got to agree with 91 Fleer has the set that I hate the most.
Just as card companies are stepping up their quality and designs, Fleer puts out that piece of garbage.

Hate is a strong word, I don't really care for 57,58,61,66,74,82 Topps. Anything between 1988-2001 I really have no opinion of.

1968 and 72 Topps and all after 91

All Fleer and all Donruss and Score and UD and anything else.

Basically all the crap that was produced after 1981 that was not Topps

I'll agree w/ '91 Fleer and '68 Topps baseball. And I'm sure I'll take a lot of heat for this one but I really dislike '62 Topps baseball.

  • simply on the design/appearance, not the content of the stars or rookies I hate the following....baseball sets.

    1968 topps
    1973 topps
    1979 topps
    1982 topps
    1990 topps

    ...for starters.
  • 91 Fleer
    72 Topps

Some nasty 90's Topps too, but the years escape me.
  • I stopped collecting in 1989. So newer sets I'm not at all familiar with.

But I was never fond of the 1955 Bowman color TV set, but one of my favorite cards is in that set (Campy). Nor 1968 Topps and more recently 1987 Topps.

I hate everything made after 1987. The world would be better off if all of that stuff was rounded up and thrown in a giant recycling bin, after which the government should buy Topps and shut it down for the betterment of the hobby.

1)1993 OPC Premiere baseball (who came up with that checklist, anyway? You couldn't find a more uninspiring 132 players to put in a set if you tried).

    2) The Pacific N.Ryan sets are indeed lame, although I really do like most of the late '90's Pacific sets.

    3) Most of the 1960's and 1970's Topps baseball sets (save maybe 1965, 1971 and 1972).

    4) 1990 Score

    5) Sportflics

    6) 1993 UD Comic Ball

  • I hate the 68 and 62 Topps Baseball sets- boring, bland designs.
    Interested primarily in:
-Topps Dodgers cards in PSA 9, 1952-1979
    -1971 Topps in PSA 9

Not really into the newer sets, but from the 1952 - 1975 Topps Baseball sets, I would have to say that the '61 is my least favorite set.
    STAY HEALTHY!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
