    Thanks for the post image

If anyone wants the deal of the year... 1909 VDB Proof on eBay right now... couple of hours left, I've already been outbid imageeBay Link

From the seller upon request for better pics & pics of the rims & edges:

<< <i>I currently do not have a scanner and my camera gets blury the more I zoom in. Sorry about that. As far as authenticating as a proof, I've been selling coins from my Grandfather's collection that was left to me. All coins that I've been selling come from his itemized collection that he also kept a book on himself. He was a serious collector. Check my feedback from buyers all have been satisfied and I have had no problems thus far. I also did a little research myself and from what I've found it is a proof. Thank You for your interest! >>

Michael, seriously, you MUST know this isn't a REAL 1909 VDB Matte Proof Lincoln cent, right? And would you pay even $10 for a raw VF MS version? Of course not. It seems you, like many other Lincoln cent collectors have a dream. Maybe, just maybe you'll hit the lottery called the real 09VDB MPL. Well good luck. The best chance anyone had of getting the real thing at a so called "reasonable" price occurred last week at FUN.

Great job (again) Bob. Makes it a bit easier carrying over those already linked/imaged, etc. and only linking new ones.

Steve, of course I know the chances of it being THE coin, is extremely slim. However, with poor photos, you never know... image The coin looks better than VF from what I can see, so I thought it would be worth it to place a small bid on it, small enough to where I'd be happy with coin if I won it and was able to confirm it's not a proof for sure image

I guess someone else wanted it more. Someday someone will get very lucky... I'm just not going to be the one spending crazy money gambling.

    Hi Guys,

It seems like it would be fairer to all sellers AND more efficient (from both a bandwith and a duplication minimization perspective) if sellers forwarded Bob via PM the code with the link/images, etc. that they want him to insert into the main/title post.

Certainly a note could be added such as "*added 1/15/09" (e.g.)

    Just my thoughts & HO.

IMHO fairtraderz is a fool for listing these coins at 99 cents. All it does is imply the coin can be gotten cheap and will bring out all the dreamers out there. Steveimage

A collector won't be able to steal them at a low price for a collection, theres to many flippers out there to let these go to lower than they normally would on Ebay a few years ago. JMO...

It sure a long list going here...you were lucky to see this many listed in a year in 2002-2004

Brothers, MPLs seem to be coming out of the woodwork lately. Some look pretty nice and a few others you could hear barkin' across the bourse floor. Now might be a good time to do a little cherrypickin'.

    sure looks "undergraded'' to me.

Most 12's have tons of color..but if da home team says its original....then its original.

Ive noted that the 16's are still "in the woodwork". aside from that high grade one angledees had/has how many others have there been over the last year?

OK, I see that NOW on EBAY these certified MPL's DO get bid up to their anticipated values. Think we will ever see a PCGS slabbed 1909VDB MPL listed on EBAY? with no reserve? It WOULD be interesting to see how it was bid during a 10 day run. I'd bet it just won't happen.

    Bob-

Great job with the posted photos and links. I agree with Curly. Many MPLs to choose from; but important to pick the right ones.

I like the 1909s that are starting to appear, but the '15s and 16s are seem in hiding, for the most part. I still think the 1916 is the most under-valued in the series.

    Eye appeal + scarcity = big $$

Duane, you raised a good question that got me to wonder how many 1916 MPL have com to market so I went back and looked at all the MPL list since its conception in september of 2007. Now consider the fact that these coins are bought and sold and I have no way of knowing which ones were the "same" coin listed more than once (twice?) over this time frame. But amazingly 23 have been listed just this past year, with a total of 31 since the list began.

    Bob,
If it isn't too difficult with your database, could you tell us how many 1909VDB MPL's have been listed in the past year and in total since the list began? If it is rather easy, I'm sure we'd all also like to know how each of the nine MPL varieties stack up for the last year and in total since the listing began. Please, don't make a project out of it, but it would be interesting to know all these numbers. Thanks,

These things are popping up all over suddenly... this one here is significantly under the PCGS guide prices too. Will we see some red in the Price Guide soon??? Is the party over???

The price guide is for solid examples. PQ coins will trade higher, and fugly coins will trade lower. The party is not over. Take a look at the picture; there's a reason for the discount. I'd even go as far to say there might be a fingerprint on the lower obverse.
