Good article you have there. The key for me was lens I bought a 100mm 2.8. And proper lighting and white balance. Are lighted backgrounds good for copper or only silver coins?

The left and right fields are too dark for my taste. You want to show the coin is red, correct? Raise the lights a little and that will brighten the fields. The only time I like dark fields is with cameo proofs and prooflike Morgan dollars.

The sharp rims of my proof Franklin half had cut through the 2x2's mylar film. I had the coin stored in one of those 2x2 red cardboard boxes. The damaged mylar film of the 2x2 had also creased in the same diagonal as it shows on the reverse of your posted Kennedy half resulting is a very similar streak of toning.
So my question is, do you consider this type of toning AT when it occurs through unfortunate circumstances of improper storage?
I ask because I would like to think this is NT as most toning is due to improper storage. But it is also interesting to note that after such discoveries, coins could be placed in such enviorments to intently recreate more toned coins.

I consider improper storage toning to be "AT", for what it's worth. This was 100% chemical and rather quickly done.

Edit: I meant NT, not AT.

Not a bad picture, but frankly, the lighting could be more even -- you can't see any details in the obverse fields for example.
