I bought a slabbed coin from them, no problems. I receive the ads you are talking about as well.

Yes. I've been buying from them off and on for over 35 years, back when Lee Crane owned it. Never had a problem. The past six or so years, even won auctions on eBay from them, great to deal / work with on slabbed coins. Raw coins, in the past few years, only bought two and thought they were both overgraded by one point (PCGS confirmed me right on one of them ) but they do have a good return policy.
I bought 1 coin from them from a Coinworld ad a few years ago. A 1903 Jefferson Dollar in an PCGS 63 holder. It now has a gold CAC sticker on it and I was told if it was in a 64 holder, it would still get a gold sticker. They felt it is a 65.
YES, they are very good to deal with. You can call(800 number) and ask for a description and they will tell it like it is. If it's not original they will say so.
I have dealt with Lee (the owner) for 25 years or more.
I bought a couple of rolls of 1954 BU cents from them about 8 years ago and they were junk. They were spotted and in general terrible looking coins. I never dealt with them again.

I've bought quite a few circulated Barbers from them through the years-as a matter of fact completed all 3 circulated G/VG sets (10c, 25C, 50c) 10 years ago, with most of the scarce and rare coins coming through L&C. No problems with grading or trying to sneak in damaged or cleaned coins.
It is interesting to see so many people with experience with them when this forum generally eschews modern crap (TM). And the last reply above me says they used to carry classic coins. Now all I see on ebay if modern crap (TM). I am familiar with them because they are my competition. --Jerry
Bought from them a few times, though not on ebay...and they were for Classic commems. Never had a bad time, CS people were very personable (when I did call to verify availability, as there was only 1 coin), shipping time was quick......I'd buy from them again in a minute.
I bought this coin from them many many years ago from a coin world ad, and i knew i should have sent it back, but for some reason i did not.I guess i did not return it because i thought at the time (I was new into seated halves then), that it was quite rare. They did not mention that the coin had been heavily tooled on the obverse. It was my first and LAST purchase from them. It is an 1856-S.

So, what happened?

I just received 2 PCGS moderns from them for a set I'm putting together, off ebay. It was all quick and well enough. Had the coins in 4 days of payment. I can't comment on their raw or classics though.

Bought a modern commem after e-mailing them asking about spots, etc. Coin shows up with major spots, of course. They have an "exchange only" return policy, so I pay for return shipping only to get yet another coin with spots. What a bunch of wankers.

You know, Ron; Most 1954 BU cent rolls are spotted/ugly. A really bright premium roll is worth big bucks.

I didn't expect MS-68 coins or anything like that, but the dark, spotted ugly coins I received were not what I expected either. Many years ago I bought 125 rolls of Lincolns from a friend that was getting out of coins for $125 dollars. This included 5 rolls of 55-S and a roll of 52-P cents. I just wanted to fill the 54 hole with a halfway decent roll. I didn't even bother to put one of the 54 rolls in with the others they were so bad. I'm nor unreasonable and expect something for nothing but L&C did advertise them as BU. Early on in coin collecting I learned there is no free lunch.
