Just sayin............
Jim Rice drove in 1451 runs and scored 1249 (total is 2700)
Darrell Evans drove in 1354 runs and scored 1344 (total is 2698). So you have a difference of two runs.
Rice made 5807 outs in his career; Evans made 6818. So per out, Rice certainly has a rate advantage, .46 to .40. But then you have all the other considerations, which all favor Evans:
1) longer career
2) parks less conducive to run production
3) lower league scoring environment
4) defensive value

The writers go by a lot of popularity, and that seems to be the way of life for the HOF voters, who by and large are ignorant to many facets of what constitutes good or better.
Rice made it, and I don't begrudge that at all...but if I am in the Don Mattingly camp, I am up in arms right now or asking "When the heck is it my turn now that Rice is in" Other camps all have the same legit beef.
