I truly wonder what the 5% percent that didnt vote for Rickey is thinking. How can you rationalize in your head that Rickey Henderson is not a HOF'er? Congrats to Rickey and Rice!
And here is last years vote just to see who gained some votes.
Goose Gossage 466 85.8 Jim Rice 392 72.2 Andre Dawson 358 65.9 Bert Blyleven 336 61.9 Lee Smith 235 43.3 Jack Morris 233 42.9 Tommy John 158 29.1 Tim Raines 132 24.3 Mark McGwire 128 23.6 Alan Trammell 99 18.2 Dave Concepcion 88 16.2 Don Mattingly 86 15.8 Dave Parker 82 15.1 Dale Murphy 75 13.8 Harold Baines 28 5.2
Bert Blyleven lost 2 votes this year compared to last year. Raines lost 10 votes this year compared to last year. Dawson gained 3 votes this year compared to last year.

What's worse ... leaving off Rickey (they must be on drugs) or voting FOR Jay Bell (they must be on drugs AND institutionalized).
STAY HEALTHY!

Well, looks like the Red Sox will be retiring #14 next season . I always loved Rice growing up - regardless of whether people think he belongs, I'm happy for him.

Well Ripken got 98.5% of the vote, which is 3rd highest vote percentage (under Seaver 98.84% and Ryan 98.8%), but 1st highest in position players. Who's the 1.5% (or 8 people) who didn't feel Ripken deserved to get in??

Anyone who did not vote for Cone is out of their mind. Name me one other pitcher who won a World Series, a Cy Young, pitched a perfect game, "showed himself" to the ladies from the bullpen and left tickets at will call for Vanna, Elvis and Picabo.
Congrats to both. I grew up as a Yankees fan in the 80's and saw them both play hundreds of games, they are both well deserved. I hope Blyleven and Dawson make it next year. Roberto Alomar will be a first timer on the ballot next year, it will be interested to see how many votes he gets.

There was a season after Picabo Street won the gold in the Olympic Downhill that Cone left tickets at will call for Picabo Street. I don't think Picabo, Vanna or Elvis ever took Cone up on his generous offer.
Here's the list of players eligible for the first time in 2010:
Roberto Alomar, Kevin Appier, Andy Ashby, Ellis Burks, Andres Galarraga, Pat Hentgen, Mike Jackson, Eric Karros, Ray Lankford, Barry Larkin, Edgar Martinez, Fred McGriff, Shane Reynolds, Robin Ventura, and Todd Zeile.
Would love to see Edgar Martinez get in down the road. I know playing DH most of his career is going to hurt but he's one of the best hitters of all time.

<< <i>I just noticed some one day Rice HOF card auctions. Do people think his card is going to be peaking today only? lmao >>
That's the way Ebay works. LOL. Every non-informed collector will buy Jim Rice cards at inflated prices for a couple days due to the hype then they will go back to normal. Happens all the time. Just look at when somebody dies or gets busted. O.J. stuff was really pricey when his first trial was under way and usually when a person dies a bunch of people list their items with crazy BIN prices (and they sell). Saw it when Dale Earnhardt died and Reggie White.
When I broke-up my 1976 Topps registry set. I really regreted selling my 1976 Topps Rice PSA 9. (Not a rookie card, but I'm post this here anyway! LOL!)
That was one tough card to locate in mint! (Only one PSA 10, and you would need tons of cash to buy that one!).

edit: Cannot even guess what someone would pay for a PSA 9 today?

That's called an egotistical MLB writer. Sometimes they think they are bigger than the game.

Not saying it is right or wrong but Cobb and Ruth did not get 100% of the vote either.
It is a long standing tradition.
I think Seaver came the closest with 98.6%
