grading Ruth, Cobb, Johnson, Mantle ?

I have been contemplating getting my top 5 cards slabbed for some time.
I am not (by choice) a member of PSA. The main reason for getting them slabbed now is to protect them against the elements (moisture etc.). While I am not an expert grader, I have based my estimates on the harshness of the board's eye. I am using a PSA grading scale for the benefit of this CU board.
These are the 5 (with conservatively extimated grade) I have in mind:
1. 1928 Harrington's Ice Cream - Babe Ruth (PSA 1)
2. T205 Ty Cobb - (PSA 1)
3. T201 Walter Johnson - (PSA 2)
4. 1956 Topps Mickey Mantle - (PSA 3)
5. 1954 Topps - Hank Aaron (PSA 4)
What I would like to get are some suggestions on a) options in card selections b) grading choices c) costs d) alternatives to regular grading
Thanks

thanks again
sorry about your LEAFS. (Did you see that Sindin scored for Canucks last night ?)
each which is the cutoff on the initial sub.
That is how I'd do it. I would NOT use BCCG that is for sure.
So basically for 100.00 you get those 5 graded (plus 1 more) and will get them back all within the same month.
The initial sub is done rather quickly. Just make sure that you allow for them to grade authentic in case the Cobb won't grade.
Good luck!
Using BVG also makes a lot of sense and will cost less.
Steve
Just to clarify, if the cards come back a higher grade then PSA 1, (subsequesntly worth more) does that mean they cannot be accepted as less than $500.00 value ? (how do you know value BEFORE they are graded ?)
What would the cost of mailing / insurance "et al" be for sending 5 such cards ? (best way to submit / send ?)
thanks ahead for time.
If you use your free vouchers I don't see a problem if they come back a lil higher then what you pregraded
them as.
In this specific case off the top of my head it will cost
99.00 for the 6 free vouchers.
If you claim the value as 2000.00 overall the shipping will be:
around 25.00 (they just raised the rates so it could be 28.00) I'm not sure, you can get the actual cost from
the chart you will get with the submission. IMO if you want these cards in a PSA holder this is the most
cost beneficial way.
So for around 150.00 you can get these 5 cards and 1 more similar card graded. The added benifit IMO
is that they grade them fast too. From the day you mail them out to the day you have them back in your hands is around 3 weeks.
The reason my math does not add up is because you will have to pay to get them to PSA which is another 20.00 or so.
These are exactly the types of cards I'd send in using the free vouchers.

Most of your questions will be answered when and if you get the kit they send when you join.
