Nice centering overall, unless my eyes deceive me. That was always the problem with those whenever I ripped them as a kid. I had 10 Bill Walton cards and not one was centered! Good luck.
The D.J. rookie is a great card. A lot of those late 70s RCs are very underpriced compared to those in other sports. Guys like D.J., Dantley, Gervin, English, Dawkins, and others were just as great in basketball comparatively to guys like Earl Campbell, Dorsett, Molitor, Yount, etc..., but their cards don't command even a fraction of the price.
I was going to save one of the packs for the grading special but I has some much fun busting the first two I cracked all three open... here is the final highlights.
Those are nice cards! Thanks for sharing the rip. I love how Artis Gilmore's Hair is framed perfectly by the circular close up border. He must have added 5" to his perceived height with that hair!
thanks Neil for the packs it was a lot of fun... I'm now going to ebay to bid on some more of your packs - since I now need a fresh one to send in on the grading special - hopefully I will have more will power next time and be able to save one!
<< <i>i think that set is one of my top 3 fave basketball sets of all time. >>
I agree they are nice looking cards... kind of a combination of 83 and 84 Topps baseball. I agree with CDsnuts it's a very under-rated set since there are several nice Hall of Fame players in the set.
Nice cards. Should not be too difficult to get some star cards?? There is only 132 cards in the set, right. I wonder if ripping some of this 70's basketball would be profitable??

It might be if you could get some nice packs... the Maravich and the Johnson both have an outside shot at a 9.
The Dr. J card I pulled is wax stained or it would also have a shot, also the Walton I pulled has some strange surface wrinkles.
collecting RAW Topps baseball cards 1952 Highs to 1972. looking for collector grade (somewhere between psa 4-7 condition). let me know what you have, I'll take it, I want to finish sets, I must have something you can use for trade.
looking for Topps 71-72 hi's-62-53-54-55-59, I have these sets started
I didn't have any after about 1998 or 99. Just never got around to it. Then a few years ago, bought probably 10 or 15 packs from the BBC Exchange mostly. Good quality cards. Got almost all the stars, and some doubles or triples. It's a good value for the money. The set is small. Lots of stars. The DJ rookie is cool.
