Come on...you think this Giants team is good enough to win two Super Bowls in a row?...it's not even close...this Giants team isn't that good of a football team right now - lately the Eagles have played much better football and that's not even debatable. Eagles are the better football team but granted the proof still needs to be done on the field which should happen with a nice Eagles win.

If McNabb goes in the tank tomorrow, yes the Giants probably win...but if McNabb just plays an average game and stays out of trouble, the Eagles win this game with no problem.

Giants are a much better football team. The Giants O-line will hammer the birds D-line into the ground. Dawkins will be beside himself.
The Eagles are lucky to be here.

You must have been on sabbatical during the last Eagles-Giants game...the Eagles owned them...that score wasn't indicative of how much the Eagles dominated them...I see no reason that should change, again...unless McNabb pulls a "Jake Delhomme"

Akers was in a slight slump earlier in the season, but he's kicking like a machine again - he'll be fine tomorrow.

Plus the Eagles players are much hungrier to win a Super Bowl than the Giants who just won it last season.

And yes, technically the Eagles got lucky in the final week, however before the final game the Eagles were ranked third in the NFL in defense, and around eighth in offense - certainly those numbers improved after the Eagles slaughtered the Cowboys in that final game of the regular season - The Eagles are the best team right now in the NFL and deserve to go on and win the Super Bowl.

Steve, you are on shrooms if you think the last Giants Eagles game means a damn thing come tomorrow.

Akers has never kicked well in Giants Stadium. Tomorrow will be windy. Good. All the better for G-men ground game.

Another factor is the condition of Brian Westbrook - Despite that one long run against the Vikings, it was obvious to Eagles fans that Westbrook was only playing at like 75% capacity. Granted those are two big "ifs" McNabb's consistency and Westbrook's physical status - but if McNabb brings his A game, and Westbrook is healthy, this is a handy win for the Eagles tomorrow.

One thing for sure - in my view this is like the NFC championship game - both these teams are definitely better than the Cardinals.

While I do believe the Giants will take care of business tomorrow afternoon, it should be difficult for a Giants fan to completely write off the Eagles, as this Philly club is strikingly similar to the 2007 Giants in terms of a team that played inconsistently throughout most of the year before getting it all together down the stretch. And if today's results are any indication, home field and the bye don't seem to mean as much as it once did. Giants will need to set the tone early with Jacobs being the horse...Tuck is playing hurt and the weather should hamper the passing game, so Giants need to run the ball for 200 yards tomorrow and control the tempo.

  • I'm not going to hide with this: The Eagles are the last team I wanted the Giants to play right now. The Giants went 1-3 in their last 4 games, and yes I knowed they mostly played the subs in the 2nd half of the Vikings game. You don't want to end your season so-so with a bye because the result could be a flat performance. The Eagles are hot and hungry, and they worry the crap out of me.

The positive for the Giants is that Jacobs has had a lot of rest, and I think he's ready to pummel some people. Hey don't forget that they're the Super Bowl Champs and they took down the 18-0 Patriots. They're a dam good team, and if they play their game they win.

Here's why the game is a toss up.

Substitute the names of the Giants playoff opponents from last year and you have the same result.

    ( Unless its Pittsburg ) ===GO RAVENS.

No kidding aside. I don't think that the Eagles have it. Yes the Ravens destroyed them. Yes the Bengels played them up. Yes the Eagles HAVE played better since then.

But the truth of the matter is I won lunch from my Philly boss yesterday, by them no-good Ravens shutting down the Titans. I hope to win a bigger lunch , today if the Giants win this one. Actually I'd like ( not love ) to see the Eagles win, because the Ravens would beat the snot out of them again. That I would love.

However, she picked the Cards. I told her that she was crazy. She just had a feeling.

Today the Oracle of Southwest Florida picks the Eagles.

Although I have a low level of confidence I'll go with her choice. It keeps us both happy.

She also has some concern with my pick for the Steelers going to the SB. She has the Ravens. We'll see about that one.

  • Thanks Dan -

Can't put it any better than this writer from the Philly Inquirer. I personally did not see the team making it this far.

    Gigantic!
    The Eagles beat the Giants.

The Eagles are headed to Arizona.

The Eagles could go to the Super Bowl.

    (Pause to marvel.)

Anybody who saw this coming a month ago is clairvoyant. Anybody who saw it coming 2 weeks ago is a true believer. Because nobody else did. Because this was not supposed to happen. But it is happening. The sixth seed in the NFC playoff tournament went to New York and beat the top seed, 23-11. They were not stopped by fatigue. They were not run over by the Giants' vaunted running game. Their defense was outstanding and their offense was good enough and efficient enough.

And now, on to Arizona and the NFC Championship Game against a team that the Eagles pounded on Thanksgiving night. That is when this serendipitous run began. That is when this whole, crazy, unpredictable run started. If you saw it continuing on to the Super Bowl semifinals, you have better eyes than me.

    Arizona.

    NFC Championship Game.

    (Pause to marvel.)

    Cowboys rule what?

Well, they have 5 super bowls and are the only team to not give up a TD in a super bowl. They hold the record for playoff apperances. And the list goes on and on.imageimage

What do you not believe? They do have 5 Super Bowl wins and they beat Miami 24-3 in 1972. If you look up Super Bowl records you will find the Cowboys mentioned very very often. They won the SB 3 out of 4 years in the 90's .
  • Congrats Eagles fans! You deserved to win. I am rooting for the NFC team all the way.

"The answer was in the Patriots eyes. Gone were the swagger and c0ck sure smirks, replaced by downcast eyes and heads in hands. For his poise and leadership Eli Manning was named the game's MVP. The 2007 Giants were never perfect nor meant to be. They were fighters, scrappers....now they could be called something else, World Champions."
