Does the NFL need to change the rule and reseed by record in the 2nd round? Discuss...

No, I think the system works the way it is now.

If the Chargers win on Sunday they deserve to host the next game.

Job # 1 : Beat the teams in your division so you can win your division.
That's the way it's always been and every coach knows that going into the season.

Otherwise, might as well just do away with divisions altogether
and the six teams with the most wins in each conference go to the playoffs.

Wolf, I'm not saying division winners shouldn't be in the playoffs, I'm saying that after they're in, it should be reseeded according to records. Baltimore went 11-5 and they're going to have to win 3 road games to get to the SB while 8-8 San Diego could potentially play 2 home games. I think that's dumb.

Baltimore should have won one of the two games against Pittsburgh this year and then they would have some home field advantage. They didn't, though. They knew the rules going in. In 2005-2006, an 11-5 Pittsburgh team had to go on the road for every game in the playoffs and they took care of business. If you're good enough, home field shouldn't make a difference.
  • I can't recall the source, but didn't stats show that the W-L between home/road teams during the regular season was close to .500?

Also, with the Cardinals' win tonight, if the Eagles beat the Giants tomorrow...the Cardinals will host the NFC Championship.

If the Chargers and Cards end up hosting championship games then they deserve them...they would have both gone on the road and beat opponents that were supposedly superior. No matter what type rules you have, they never please everyone.
