St George's Day 4/23/18

Commemorating a British raid on the German occupied port of Zeebrugge. It was a token victory for the British, briefly blocking some German shipping and more importantly, a submarine base. Nevertheless, it was a big morale booster for the Belgians as well as the British.
While I was researching this event, I even discovered a post of a grandson of one of the men cited on the medal's reverse.

Well, not only is the engraving superb on this and your pelican- and lion-related pieces in the other post, but I dig the non-round shapes and find them refreshing. I like "plaquettes" and such. Not enough to slide down the slippery slope of *gasp* collecting them, but I like 'em. If there was a similar looking item from pre-1900 with a tidy hole at the top, I would possibly consider it for my Holey Coin Vest. I was tickled to finally add a Nurnberg 1650 silver ducat klippe a while back, to put something squarish on there and break up the visual monotony of all those circular objects.
