The 1835 $2 1/2 came back in a genuine holder 98 damaged or tooled.
I can't see any damage apart from a couple of small scratches above the eagles eyes. Is that considered damage on such an early coin?
I don't think it's tooled?
I think it's a 1835 $2 1/2 McCloskey-1, R.2.
This variety is identified by the wide AM in AMERICA, a reuse of the die that earlier coined the 1834 Large Head McCloskey-A. The centers are week, but the overall strike is good.
The 1835 is considered scarcer than the first year of this type 1834 and the 1836.
1900 $10- came back as MS62.
