EBAY - "Steal This Deal"

When did ebay start this funny thing of a deal alert?

"No one has bid yat. STEAL THIS DEAL!"

also, does anyone really think this is a deal?

Who are these people, and why do they spend 15 minutes on a useless listing? I mean seriously-- how many 'lot of 5 1987 Topps Roger Clemens cards' with a starting bid of $.99 and a S&H charge of $2.75 need to go unsold before the Morlocks who list this crap realize they need to find another gig?

eBay must love these sellers... erm, listers... who continue to put up unwanted junk (especially at ridiculous prices) without doing any research on completed auctions.

I wonder if there is any reports on how many items go unsold on eBay by category? It would make an interesting read.

I think I read somewhere that it's over 50%. And while Ebay may think they love this action, I think in the long run it may really hurt them. I do a lot of searches where I'm not 100% what I'm looking for, but I know it when it find it, and I have no doubt that I probably would have spent an additional 10K on Ebay last year if my searches weren't clogged with so much crap. I'm not sure if other people search the way I do, but if they do then it's certainly costing Ebay a considerable chunk of change.

Ebay as a seller was very good for me this week, very VERY good! Perhaps those folks who cut back on their holiday spending realized they had some money laying around and it was burning a hole in their pocket - Glad they spent some of it with me. image
  • God, you don't see that much write up on a Mint 9 card.

Item has been re-listed, so it's fair game for all of us.

I must say, I did learn a few things:

    (1) Rod was a combat engineer in USMC reserves.

    (2) Rod never officially converted to Judiasm was incorrectly noted by Adam Sandler.
