Sportsbuy Problem/Question

Last night, I got an email showing a shipping confirmation from someone on Sportsbuy to me. I checked my account and saw where one of my old "Buy" offers was still on there and someone finally sold the card. The card in question is a Topps Chrome SE Refractor rookie of Jay Cutler. I sometimes buy 20 of rookies I think will do well in the long run and keep them back. The buy price I had on the card was $3.95. This buy offer had been up since December of 2007. I had since already bought the 20 I wanted and just forgot about it.

So I log on to sportsbuy to edit the buy listing. I still wouldn't mind a few more, but since the time I put the listing up, the cards value had decreased a little. I had planned on putting $2.95 up as the new buy price (not much, but if someone wants to sell it...why not). In editing the price, the system locked up and I received an error message saying that there was a "Glitch" in the system (Yes, the message actually used the word "Glitch"). Upon going back to my account info, I was shocked to see that the buy price was edited to $295.00 per card. Immediately I tried again to edit the amount and got another "glitch" message. I logged out and back in again to try and clear any problem, but by the time I got back on, either the first or second try had gone through and my buy price was at the $2.95 level.

I noticed that during this whole "glitch" nonsense, that a sale had been made and I had been charged $6.95 for one of the rookies. I assumed that the program automatically buys cards if your buy price is higher than someones sell price. I figured, no big deal, $6.95 is not worth the hassle of trying to call someone over. I checked my email a few hours later and saw where 2 more transactions had been added to my account buy total, this time 1 card for $14.75 and 2 more for $15 each. Both of these sales came through AFTER the edit finally showed $2.95, whats more is the fact that my account now showed I was scheduled to buy a total of -3 (thats negative three) cards at -$2.95 each. Something is definitley afoot here in sportsbuy world.

Since their office hours were closed, I had to wait until this morning to call and talk to a sportsbuy idiot who said I would be responsible for any fees associated with this transaction even if an error occurred. I claimed immediate BS (not a strong as a triple dog dare, but immediate BS is only superceded by instant BS). I told him I received 2 seperate "glitch" messages from their system and that two of the sales occured after the edited price was posted. I further explained to this donkatron about the wierd negative buy numbers on my account buy list, to which he gave me a big duhhhhh sound. He has transferred this whole problem to someone else that make more than minimum wage I guess and I am awaiting their response.

Anyone else have any problems like this with SB or any possible solutions? I have already contacted the sellers and told them not to send the cards and since this all happened late last night, they shouldnt have had a chance to mail anything yet.

I had an issue with Sportsbuy/Naxcom a couple of years ago. Bottom line is their customer service stinks and I would never use them.

I would just cancel your account. They can't get you without an account.

    That's a pretty crappy situation.

I dont use it that much, but the problem is that they have already hit my credit card with the purchases.

Dispute it with your CC - they'll likely refund the cash.

    UPDATE

After speaking further with their "customer care" department, they claim that their techs could not find any problem, even though I asked them why the service would give me a glitch message. They are still wanting to hook me for the cost of the transaction fees, plus any cards that have been mailed out. I called VISA this am and they pretty much said that they would reverse any charges.

What is disturbing is how they handled the internal investigation and repeatedly said they found no error, but were unable to explain how the two glitches affected the situation, nor how a negative number ended up on my account buy list that only accepts positive numbers to begin with. I think ebay had bought sportsbuy because their CS is about the same. The fees associated with this is under $5, but honestly I am so sick of these internet screwballs finding way to nickel and dime you or just outright put it in deep that I am choosing to fight this one.

Good job with the credit card. Sportsbuy/Naxcom is a joke for small time sellers/buyers. For as bad as ebay has become, they are still leagues better than Sportsbuy/Naxcom.

These glitches tend to happen at night. It crashes all the time, so I find it laughable they couldn't find the problem.
