Quick Paypal question

I know that there is buyer protection with Ebay transactions where someone can lie and claim an item is "significantly not as described". If a person pays me for something that is not Ebay related, can they still claim that something is "significantly not as described" and get their money back? In other words, they are just going to pay me through my email address. Thanks.

From what I have read from previous threads, paypal protection on ebay is not the same as elsewhere. It may be better for the seller in terms of avoiding scam artist buyers. Let us wait for the rest of the crew to chime in.

Paypal offers the same sellers protection on off ebay websites as well. I sold something off ebay last year and accidently shipped an item to the approved billing address instead of their friends address. Well the person wanted it shipped in another part of their town and reshipped the item to their friend and filed a dispute with paypal claiming I sent the item to the wrong address and that they didn't get it. Their credit card company sided with them in the dispute but Paypal ate it and said I met their sellers protection and was covered in the dispute.

This transaction is not through a website. I am also asking only about "significantly not as described".

There is NO PP "Buyer Protection" OFF of EBAY.

ALL such PP claims must be filed under the "Buyer Complaint Policy," (BCP).

In the case of an INR claim, the seller must prove - via online DC/SC -
that the item was delivered. Otherwise, PP will refund the buyer's money,
IF they can collect it from the seller.

There is NO SUCH THING as a "SNAD" award in the BCP. If a scamming
"buyer" wants to steal from his seller, he must go directly to his credit
card company. Once that happens, smart sellers simply bring in cc-security
and bogus claims are usually easily defeated.

The absence of fraudulent SNAD-claims AWAY from EBAY, makes PayPal
a fine payment service to use; although google-checkout is HALF price, or
    free in some circumstances.

    Recap:

    OFF EBAY PP-Transactions:

INR = Same Proof Required As EBAY.

    SNAD = No Such Thing.
