Ebay feedback uses and abuses

After reading many threads on this topic of ebay feedback, I thought it would be informative and stimulating to discuss yet another angle on this feedback business.
We know the old rules where a buyer pays for an item and then it arrives not as described. The seller does not make good and the buyer has no choice but to leave honest feedback ( a negative in this case) only to be retaliated against with an uncalled for neg from the seller.
Now if a buyer pays, or even in some rare cases, does not pay, the seller cannot leave negative feedback. However, this leverage can be used against the seller from unethical buyers who use this as an opportunity to extort.
The tides have turned from being harsh on buyers to being harsh on the sellers.
In any case, I have learned from bits and pieces of several threads that some buyers purchase from a seller and pay....then leave negative feedback for no immediately apparent reason. Those buyers seem to not want anything in return and were only happy to leave negative feedback. The purchases are also minor. Many suspect that those buyers are not idiots or that anything particular is wrong with them. They likely dealt with the seller before and got ripped off according to how they preceive things in their minds and now with the new ebay rules, are finally leaving the feedback they thought should have been left back when the rules were different. Buying something for a total of $3-6 seems to be worth the gratification of doing such a deed--perhaps even the item was something they can actually use or gift away.
Please share your stories. I would like to hear the experiences you had. My record as a seller is one item that never got sold. I do not sell things on ebay, so I really would like to hear the different stories out there from the seller perspective and also from buyers.
I can recall a recent incident when a shady seller was discovered. Some members on here proceeded to bid or purchase some of the stuff in order to get enough negs in there to shut down the seller. If a seller gets too many negs and low DSR scores, he gets penalized as I recall.
I know this board has a tendency to sometimes go ballistic or act like two-day starved pirhana surrounding fresh meat flung into the water.

Hi
Steve
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
I am not noticing ANY reduction in dishonest sellers.
I am noticing a MAJOR increase in dishonest "buyers."
I do KNOW that about 100K honest, small-sellers have been dumped due to
bogus FB and DSRs.
The crooked sellers are ALL still there.
Word is out that crooks posing as "buyers" can get free stuff and money for nothing on EBAY.
EBAY was a fraud-pot before the FB changes, and it has ONLY gotten worse.
