Does GAI ever offer Cello pack grading specials?

Does GAI ever offer Cello pack grading specials? If so, how much do they charge and is there a minimum? I have some rack packs that I want to get graded and a few Cello packs that I would like to have graded when I send the racks in. It really sucks that PSA doesn't grade racks yet because I would have them do my whole order. Instead I have to give my pack business to GAI image.

Just my humble opinion, but you may want to hold off on sending any packs into GAI until their bankruptcy situation is resolved.

  • great way to lose money right now: send to GAI........

    DONT DO IT
  • Good day,
Ya know I've never voiced this here before but just have to say this. Grading a Cello...What a joke....your grading some cellophane image

What did PT Barnum say, There's one born every minute. I mean maybe there's some sort of value in this for a few 60's stuff, but there would even be an argument against that.

Classic example is the 1962 Civil War News Cello and Rack Packs, Sell for $500.00-$1000.00+ when the contents are worth 1/4 to 1/2 at most.

And GAI has graded almost all of these at MINT 9, MINT 9.5 or GEM MINT 10. Where are the EX-MT 6's. nowhere because your Grading Cellophane. Wow, I mean just Wow!!!

I think there has been some good advice given. I agree that right now I would not send anything into GAI until they resolve their financial issues. If their Chapter 11 turns into a Chapter 7 you can most likely say GOODBYE to any packs you have that are at their premises.

As far as what Dutymon stated ... I do agree with some of what you said ... if you are keeping the cellos for yourself and have no plans to sell them, you may want to keep them raw. HOWEVER, whether we like it or not, if you are going to sell you will no doubt have a much larger audience to sell to if the packs are graded by either GAI or PSA ... thus, most of the time, leading to the pack selling for more money.

If you are ripping cellos to build a set, I think the premium you pay for a "9" as compared to a "7" is just too much. Sometimes, however, it may be due to the centering on the first and last cards. If that is the case, it would probably pay to spend the extra money.
