Rickey wants to thank you and Rickey wants to thank Rickey. (Pause for applause). ‘Rickey always told Rickey.'Rickey you are the best. Rickey you are a monster.' (Pause for applause).
What you don't know about Rickey, Rickey would like to share. Rickey was Nolan Ryan's 5,000 strike victim. Rickey don't mind, it was an honor. Rickey also broke Ty Cobb’s career record for runs scored with a home run. (Pause for applause). I slid into home to make it Rickey. Rickey don't mind.
Rickey would like to thank Hall of Famer, statistician Bill James who said 'If you could split him in two, you'd have two Hall of Famers." James knows Rickey, but James, Rickey could split Rickey in four and you would have three times more....after Rickey stole one of course.(Pause for laughter).
“Lou Brock was a great base stealer, but I am the greatest of all-time.” Rickey stole 132 bases in 1982, an all-time season record. 'Rickey stole 326 bases...the Yankees franchise record. Rickey stole 1,406 bases in all, the all-time record. Rickey could go on. Rickey was great. Rickey is great. Let's say 1,406 again....1,406.(Pause for applause).
Seriously, thank you for this honor and mostly, thank Rickey. Rickey is the greatest!
