paypal question

Anybody run into this one:

Guy sends money and confirmed address is:

156 Richie Court
St. James, NY

Paypal will not let me print label because they say that the USPS "reccommended" address is:

156 Richie CT N
Saint James, NY

I call and they will not offer buyer protection unless he changes address, which he has said he will not do????

Anybody know user dboneesq?

I know if I edit address I have 0% chance of keeping my money in a chargeback and I've not done business with this guy so unsure about the risk. He claims 7000 transactions but I never can tell.

Anybody know how to get around this. I called Paypal and they said only fix is to get him to change......thanks for the help paypal.

I have Paypal Users have different city's and the Paypal address label will not print. I just change it and move on, I guess you could run into fraud, but you do have proof it was sent to his address...sort of.
    Good luck.

yeah.I feel like its paypal's issue as the address really is correct, sort of. It's not wrong.

    Just a hassle.

    It happens.

I just fill out the DC-ticket like PP demands, and address the package like the buyer demands.
It's not a perfect solution, but the online-DC only shows the zip-code. As long as the zip is the
one PP demands, I don't see a problem. (And, of course, I don't use PP shipping labels.)

BUT, nobody has ever burned me on it so I have not "tested" the theory.

If you feel spooky, use signature confirmation.

Just print it the way Paypal wants it

and then "hand print" the street address the way the buyer wants it (on or by the printed address).

the post man will figure it all out, and get it delivered correctly for you,

...this way u still will get "protection" from Paypal!

IMHO, it was a little insensitive I feel to have gone about this the way Shooter did. What he did as I see it was questioned the integrity of the person buying from him, which in of itself is not wrong, just the public means and demeanor he used in trying to do this. I would feel somewhat upset myself if I were in Dboneesq shoes and someone questioned my good name and reputation as a SENIOR member here with nearly 300 posts! I mean, Clayshooter --- you have been a member here since 2006 and you did not know this person? He is on nearly every meaningful post!!! Why wouldn't you check the buyer out first before saying something publicly or insinuating that you might get burnt buy this person? That is where I feel you went wrong. I am not judging what you did, only trying to express how I see it. Ans as a part of this community, I feel I have a responsibility to say what I see and to try and make this a better place for all of us!

I'm not sure I agree. First of all, Clayshooter did not know that Dboneesq posted here, and after reading this thread, other than calling him "this guy" and questioning feedback concerns, really did not say anything to offensive against Dboneesq. He mostly questioned Paypal/USPS "label addressing issues" that invalidate "Paypal protection". Again I'm sure he was clueless about Dboneesq, and just asked for help here from others (asked if anyone knew the buyer, Dboneesq), no big deal, right?

Just shipout the card and let this thread die a swift death (unlike Tim "stubby") image

    rd

clayshooter22, sounds like he is an ok seller, and Dboneesq is ok too. I'm sure, now that clayshooter knows that Dboneesq is ok, the $20 item will be shipped correctly (to: 156 Richie Court or 156 Richie Court N.)... image

Honestly, it's PAYPAL who needs to get their sh*t together. I do not fault the buyer or seller. Just the fact that people like myself have to ask so many questions regarding the safety of PAYPAL means there is a serious problem with the system. If you insure an item for $600 the buyer has to sign for the item, but PAYPAL I've heard says they only accept signatures they can see on-line. If the buyer says they never received that item PAYPAL would most likely side with the buyer. This type of stuff is crap. It seems as if there are no set rules. Some sellers have won the exact case I described and some have lost the exact case I described.

You're actually starting a thread to ask about "Richie Ct." or Richie Ct. N" or "St. James" vs "Saint James?" About a $20 item? From an established buyer? Are you serious?

I can also personally vouch for Doug..he's as trustworthy as they come..

    I don't like PayPal.

    BUT............

To Date...... I have not found one documented case that can be confirmed to show
that any seller who followed the PP-UA exactly has lost an INR-claim on appeal, if
the item was shown online to be delivered.

There are MANY confirmed cases of sellers being ripped-off by fraudulent SNAD-claims.

    ...........

PayPal works best AWAY FROM EBAY.

There is no seller/buyer protection nonsense. Sellers simply prove delivery, and that
is the end of the transaction.

The "Buyer Complaint Policy" does not render decisions on SNADs. Crooked buyers
must use their credit-card companies to try for the rip; most will not risk it. If they
do, sophisticated sellers are guaranteed a fair-shake once they get cc-security into
    the mix.

Here is the USPS website to confirm addresses, in which I double check every address from a new customer before shipping. Note though that not every physical address has a USPS designation to deliver mail there there for a variety of reasons.

First off, the comment was about paypal.

I don't know doug. He's never bought or sold anything with me and so I posted to see if anyone has transacted with him. I don't assume anyone is a crook and if you took it that way; not only are you wrong, but don't make it out like I'm the bad guy. I'm the one at risk. If it's $2 or $2000, I'm at risk. I play by the rules so we are both protected. Paypal is widely accepted as the best alternative for buyers and sellers because there are BOTH buyer and seller protections.

On the flipside, if I told you send cash only and you had no way to assure you'd get a thing from me as a seller would you take that chance? That's the position you've put me in by not having a confirmed AND proper USPS address.

I run into this about once a year after about 1000 trabsactions a year so not a big deal but this is the first time someone told me to pound sand when I asked them to update their addy.

Doug, I told you paypal would not offer seller protection unless you changed your address to the recm USPS addy. Why not change? No matter how many transactions you have. None of the sellers who you have bought from have had the benefit of seller's protection if they use paypal shipping, so says paypal. I spent the better part of 30 minutes with them to see if they could bypass so you wouldn't have to change your addy, to no avail.

I've had countless transactions with board members, even sending stuff for free so let's not pile on me.

    I'll ship it out Monday.

Storm, This only works if you go to the post office; something I never do. Paypal will only let you print the label with the USPS rec addy....then there is no seller protection as you are technically not sending to the exact confirmed addy.

1374 feedback score (2485 in total), at 100% (which you obviously saw) would have been enough for me to not worry about a $20 item, let alone waste 30 minutes of my time on the phone with paypal.

    EXACTLY!

This is the sort of stuff that really makes me wonder. Is this the sort of thing that people stress out about? Are these the same people that call the grocery store to make sure they have a sale item in stock even though they have 50 other items on their shopping list?

Sorry if it sounds critical, but I really don't understand most of the PayPal and eBay concerns that get posted here.

That Pay Pal printed label thing used to give sellers grief because I live across the border. Seems OK in the past year though.

What I'm saying is that if I had the reservations you obviously did, a simple check of his feedback would have put me at ease over such a small amount of money. You could have saved 30 minutes of your life (and some aggravation) which hopefully is worth more to you than the $20 you would have lost if this eBayer would have gone totally against what his solid feedback rating clearly shows and tried to screw you.

There was no need for this hostility towards Clayshooter. He asked a legit question here about mailing addresses. Why someone wouldn't want to correct their address to make things run more smooth is beyond me (it would be smoother for every seller in the future too). Is the USPS addy recommendation horrible or something? Why give sellers so much trouble or concern?

Also, why did the seller not know the buyer's feedback? Look who won the auction and then check the winner's feedback. I am sure it says 100%, so what is the problem of finding that out unless its a private ID??? A buyer has so much leverage towards a seller, so even 100% feedback buyer does not mean the transaction will go the way the seller wants.

The seller did not know the buyer was a respected community member here, so now he knows. Let us move on.

First off, if you asked me to send $20 cash I would have. If it were a $200 transaction I would NOT.

SECOND, Here is your PM to me: Doug, getting this error when I print a shipping label from paypal site. I tried to manually change the address but it then said I'm not able to use paypal's seller protections. Please edit street address so it matches USPS suggestion so I can ship. Sorry about the hold up.

    Mike

THIRD, Here is my response: Mike, Not sure why it is not working. However, I have in excess of 2,500 ebay transactions over the last 7 years, most of which involved PayPal and there were no problems. The address is correct as is.

    Happy New Year!

    Doug

SOOOO, does this sound like I told you "TO POUND SAND"? Telling you my addy is correct and to have a Happy New Year? My concern is that if I changed it maybe the same error would come up with other sellers. After all, it NEVER came up in the past 2,500 transactions. I thought the sellers were protected in the past, as I have purchased cards in excess of $1,000.00 MANY TIMES!

MIKE, NOT HERE TO HAVE A PISSING MATCH. Just thought this could have been resolved in a different manner.

As I said to you before .... HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Well, that is a horse of a different color.

The buyer protection in non-eBay realted sales is much more limited that it is during eBay realted transactions. Given these details, I doubt that I would've worried too much about a "N" on the street addy. But that's just me.

Grote, not an ebay listing...transaction was through PSA buy/sale board. See where I'm coming from now?

It would have been helpful if you had indicated that fact up front...even Storm thought it was an ebay transaction...

Happy new year to all as well!@!
