Numismatic failures/gaffs for 2008, the year in review...
Mine would have to be the purchase of an 1888 Prussian Wilhelm 5 mark that clearly pictured a 2 mark of Friedrich... I am still not sure how to explain this other than
Since I only lost a hundred bucks on the deal (I turned the 2 Mark over a few weeks ago and it really was a great looking coin), looking back, one I wished I had kept. I got such a great deal on the coin that I thought I was buying, That I only lost a hundred bucks on it makes me pretty happy! Maybe I can make up the difference in a greater quantity of purchases like this rather than the quality in the year 2009?

So what did everyone else screw up on? I hope somebody out there beat me to the worst purchase or sale for the year 2008...
But I am ever opportunistic.... I hope everyone has a great 2009, and that we don't do something like this again in 2010...
