2 package 'mishaps' in a month; is there a thief at my post office?

After sending and receiving at least a couple thousand coins over the past 5 years, I've had 2 mishaps total, both since November. One, a package I sent never made it past the "received" status, and 2, a very expensive one arrived with the contents "missing". I have been averaging only about 10-15 or so sent/received packages per month here lately. Is there a thief at my post office?

I had this happen to me , three outgoing packages and one incoming package missing its contents and 1 payment went missing .

Of course this is a very small town I live in but I went in and asked to speak to the postmaster , and reported to him at the counter with several people waiting and both windows open about the missing packages and payment and the missing content I made it very specific that I suspected His post office and that I would be looking further into my recourses for further investigation into the problem .

I have not had a missing package since .

During the month of December, the U.S.P.S. customarily hires temps nationwide to deal with the crush of holiday volume. The process of screening temp hires for the U.S.P.S. would scare even a migrant labor farm owner. I guarantee that the greatest percentage of "lost, missing, or stolen" article reports are filed in the month of December.

My neighbor had worked for the post office I think he said 15-20 years and was implicated in this thread link, he has been fired and he's probably going to prison..I can tell you that theft crime is way up here in Michigan, regardless of who it is and the cops are cracking down on everything and anything....For example, Any of you guys play fantasy football..? Let's just say you are not safe, it's not just a fantasy, and people are getting popped...Don't be surprised if you're the commish and they break down your door, seize your computer, cash, and take the car. Am I serious? You bet...

I would say your situation indicates a problem-I wouldn't jump to conclusions without looking into it further with a visit to your local PO.

Problem is I think, I have about 4 post offices within 5 minutes of me & they seem to all stay ultra busy. Not sure who is gonna give a flip at such an institution..anytime I call about something, they tell me they'll call me back and never do

If you aren't being responded to by a branch Postmaster from where you make your transactions, then it is time to go direct to the Postal Inspectors unit for your region. Just do it.
