I found this Morgan while going through my safe.

It's my grandaughter Randi's. It was given to her when she was born, by member WhiteLighnin. I find it hard to believe it's only a 62.

Yeah, if the chatter in the obverse fields aren't too bad, it's a 63, maybe even a 64. If it will cross.

Strike is high - I think it lacks luster
Nice coin though I like it

You're right Mike. I'm gonna crack it and use acetone to see if it comes off.image
  • Nice one she will love it when she gets older

Now that's a higher grade than the slab says! At any grade it sure has some real nice eye appeal! Nice piece!! I wish I could find some long lost coin like that in my safe!!!

You and your granddaughter have excellent taste in Morgan Dollars.

Post a pic when you rinse her off please!
Always looking for attractive rim toned Morgan and Peace dollars in PCGS or (older) ANA/ANACS holders!

I'll have to do that later. It's rinsed off and on it's way to PCGS along with a DCAM 64 Kennedy.image

    Is that her birth year?

    Nice coin.

No, she was a premmie, 3 lbs. 2 oz. born in 2004. She recieved a lot of coins from him.
  • Its a nice coin but the price differential from 62 to 64 ( if you get it) does not warrant the cost of crossing to PCGS. Why bother?

Put it back in the safe and look at it in another 50 years.

Nice coin. I've had dozens like that in my hoard of about 10-15 years ago. Would have made 64 up to a few years ago. Now, things are too weird that its a crapshoot on ANY crossover. This is worse if there is any toning.
