A bit of history on the siege, where Clausewitz first saw battle at the age of 12!

FRANCE, Besançon (Franche Comté ) AR Carolus, 1613 - better than average -- $30 $26
Despite the shaving and deep cuts, the details on this one are actually better than most I have seen. Charles V is still pictured on these issues, 55 years after his death, in honor of his giving Besançon the mint right. OBV: +CAROLVS: QVINTVS:IMPERATOR REV: +MONETA:CIVITAT:BISVNTINE

    The boz11,
Those are very nice, especially the Sierra Leone Company 1791 1 Cent coin.Early Sierra Leonean coins almost never seem to turn up.Whenever they do,it is the British Commonwealth collectors who are always looking for them.I haven't got any of the Sierra Leone Company's coins, but my earliest one is a 1 Penny trader's currency token that is dated 1807,but it was put into circulation in 1814.

WTB or trade for German Empire one marks. Especially the dates/mints 1910-G, 1911-D, 1911-G, 1913-G and 1913-J in VF or better... I have about a dozen Mexican 8 reales and hundreds of duplicate German coins to trade. I need 48 different one mark coins of different dates and mints to complete the series and I would also like to upgrade some pretty common dates/mints as well. PM me with anything you have available to sell or trade...
    Thanks,
    Rick

Edited to add Empire... I collect German Empire, Weimar Republic and Third Reich coins by date and mint.

  • Robertson,
That's an amazing German 1918D 1/2 Mark error coin that you've got there.Look at the die crack that goes from the base of the eagle & through the 'D' mintmark.

  • lordmarcovanlordmarcovan Posts: 43,888 ✭✭✭✭✭
Thanks. It does have some cool cracks on it.

It's much more impressive in hand. My scanner does a good job on most coins, but not on really bright or lustrous pieces, or those with colorful toning. This one has both bright luster and a little bit of color, though the color is subtle.

PS- you have a sharp eye. Were I not the owner of the coin, I'd have overlooked those cracks in the picture, most likely. I'm not the most observant person at times.
