Just taking a moment...

to remember my dad, who passed away 6 years ago this morning; 12:05am to be precise. We got the call soon after , amid the usual Happy New Years and such from family and friends. It was a bit surreal. Amazing how quickly the years go by... just pausing and reflecting a bit.

He was a good Dad, was great to all my friends and he loved sports, but especially baseball. He and Mom married late in life and when I was born he was already in his late 50's. When he was in his mid 70's we would still go and throw the ball around. Man, could he throw hard! My hand still stings just thinking about it.

From what he told me he played infield, primarily 2nd and SS for a variety a local teams, city leagues and such. Not really much of a hitter, but fast image Which was basically what I was in little league, guess it ran in the family.

Im sure that he and mom are hanging out and raising a glass somewhere. I'm raising a glass to both of them right now.

Here's to a healthy, happy and peaceful New Years folks.
~Cheers~

No doubt about it, when they go they go. It will be four years in February since my dad bought it-- one of those 'dead before he hit the floor' deals. I was playing online at Noble Poker at the time, and I can still remember staring at the Ts 7s in the small blind when my wife came down in the basement, screaming and crying and holding out the phone.

In the words of the modern bard, 'The days run away like wild horses over the hills'. Skoal, Dad!

My dad passed away more than 4 years ago and I miss him everyday. He was in the hospital and just had a leg amputated due to diabetes and I knew he really had no fight left in him. He decided to no longer take his meds and he stopped the dyalasis that kept him alive for 4 years. I was upset with him and wanted to selfishly keep him around no matter what. My dad took my hand and looked me in the eyes and said "you will always have my memories!" In an instant I had to let my dad go but I think of that line so many times and often smile when I think of the memories of my dad. I miss that old guy so bad but my memories of him always brings me back to a time or place we spent together.....I really do have his memories!
I am on a budget and I am not afraid to use it!!
