Well, Gold didn't do so bad this year compared to about anything else.....
Gold 2008
Silver 2008
Platinum 2008
Dow started the year at 12,800 ending around 8800 as of this post.
S&P Down 39%
Nasdaq down 41%
Oil down over 60% (OK this one isn't really bad for consumers)
Home prices, mostly down, but depends where you live how much. (I am only down about 3 1/2 % from the high where I live, but we never had a huge run up.)
So at any rate, here is to putting 2008 behind us, and finding value in 2009.
Happy New Year!

TLT 20-year U. S. Treasuries up about 25% (plus another 4% in yield)
GDX gold miners ETF down about 30%
A number of the stock newsletters played this or some of the component gold mining stocks. Some lost their proverbial shirts with some gold newsletters reporting losses in excess of 60% for 2008.
I have a feeling that 2009 is going to be more of the same although there will probably be more liquidations which is just fine with me.
