The National Show in Cleveland

I know it's still 8 months away, but how many of you plan on going to the National show in Cleveland? If so, do any of you guys get together during the show to meet each other?

He asked me to pick up the presents and cake. He's going to pay me back when he gets there. I'm sure it'll all work out just fine. image

I haven't missed the Cleveland National in it's last few visits there, but I am 50/50 for this year as of now.

  • I'm fairly likely to attend as well.

  • Does anyone know the hotel adjacent to the show or have hotel specials begun to be quoted yet associated w/ national>?

    what are actual dates?

    thank you

I hope to make the drive up 71 to the National as well. It is near my birthday, so it is a natural gift to myself.

No this is not a shameless ploy to garner a gift from ArnyVee.

I havent planned on going but if some peeps on the boards want to meet up I would enjoy that. The problem I have with the Cleveland show is the IX center is literally in the middle of no where next to the airport. But I do know the train schedule like the back of my hand.

pick me and my boy up on your way past us on I71 buddy!

We're just over an hour away. He and I will probably come up.

Are there any Tribe games that weekend?

For people coming in for the national:

The Pro Football Hall of fame induction ceremony in Canton is the following weekend after the National. About a 40 minute drive from the National. If someone can waste a week of vacation time for week in the Cleveland Area ..that would be the week to do it. Cedar Point Amusement Park (best in country) and Rock Hall also are sites to see. You may also want to go down to Columbus or even to Detroit for Gambling Casino action or Pittsburg area. Not alot to offer in this area of the country..but could be a great sports week.

    Ryan,

Where do you think the best place to stay is if you what stuff around you (Restraunts, a hotel with a lounge, etc) if I just fly in and dont rent a car? Two years ago I stayed at a Laquinta inn?? I believe and the only plus was it was right by a train station. Any info would be great.

PS there was this place I ordered these great hot dogs or astro dogs from but I dont remember the name, any ideas?

    Cory

EDIT crap was meant to be a PM lol

The Tribe entertains the Tigers on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

When the National was last in Cleveland, a free Indians ticket for a later game could be redeemed with each paid admission.

I'm from the Canton area! Along with the Football Hall of Fame ceremony, there is also a Food Fest and Ribs Burn-off going on at that time, so there will be plenty of good eats and entertainment in the area!

I plan on driving up to the National, but I'm not sure which day yet.

    Hey Neighbor-

If Paul brings the Perkies...swim party all weekend at the bigdaddy house!

Maybe we can alternate days.....Thursday at your house..Friday at mine etc. I am sure your wife wouldn't mind the Perkies...and I am sure your sons would love them too image

  • I coordinated a dinner last year in Chicago, but I picked a restaurant that was a mile or two from the convention center. No one showed up, because most people fly in and stay at a hotel within walking distance to the show. I should have picked a place within walking distance. Oh well - live and learn. The Cleveland expo center is in the middle of nowhere, so the idea of a meet-up for dinner probably won't work.

  • alnavmanalnavman Posts: 4,129 ✭✭✭
there is a hotel at the airport, which is close to the IX center. However not much else unless you like to wander around airports. You can catch the rapid transit...Cleveland's name for a rail car downtown, which drops you at Tower City which is within walking distance of the Warehouse District and Euclid Avenue which has some nice places to eat and drink...even bowling at one establishment. There is also a comedy club within walking distance of Tower City. Tower City also has shops and some restuarants including a Hard Rock.
  • Since I'm driving to the National, I won't have to worry about hotel shuttle schedules. I intend to hit the nightlife in downtown Cleveland. image
  • jeffcbayjeffcbay Posts: 8,948 ✭✭✭✭
The nightlife in Downtown Cleveland kind of sucks. The West Bank of The Flats is okay I guess, but don't go to the East Bank unless you want to get mugged.

We're renting a car and driving all over the place!
  • mknezmknez Posts: 1,991 ✭✭✭
The east bank is half torn down. For downtown nightlife, stick to E 4th street area, just north of Jacobs Field & the Q or W 6th - W 9th warehouse district.
