What about when Ebay sellers do this

I hate this..Sometimes when buying something on Ebay the seller will say"Now look at the ictures vert carefully before bidding" Why can't they just tell you what is wrong or what is missing before you bid?? It's like those identical picyures where you have to pick out what is different from each other! image

No offense, but I've never had a problem when sellers do that. Just because a seller says that doesn't ALWAYS mean the coin has any problems. Perhaps it has unique toning or coloring and the seller is just saying, "Look at the pic to see if this coin is your cup of tea."
Positive BST transactions with: too many names to list! 36 at last count.

I encourage my bidders to look carefully at my photos. I post giant photos showing every detail that my camera can capture. I point out problem areas (spots, dings, scratches etc). I point out positives as well (coin has good eye apeal, or is a fine type example).

As a seller, I try an give my buyers every opportunity to SEE anything on a coin's surface that might give them cause to wish to return the item. Returns are a pain for both buyers and sellers.

Sorry this sort of thing troubles some buyers.

As a buyer on Ebay, sellers that claim "I'm not an expert on coins, blah blah blah, see pics and judge for yourself," who have 1,200 feedback reports for coin sales AND post terrible pictures, do get under my skin.

What bothers me is a dishonest or disingenuous trading partner.

    Happy New Year,

    Bob

I also encourage all prospective bidders to look at and zoom in on the pictures.

  • You'd be surprised how much BS sellers have to put up with also.

Do you have any idea how many buyers bid/win items on coins with obvious problems an then get all pissed when they get the coin?

I tell people to look at what they are buying because I sell a lot of the same stuff. Some coins might have a spot some don't. But I do state this coin might have spots, look at re pictures and ask questions if you have them.
